Pantoja has not only cleaned out his divison, he literally lapped them (beat Royval twice, beat Moreno 3 times, beat Kai twice) he is the goat of the Flyweights

He is a great, Mighty mouse literally has a greater record....objectively better champion with less losses at the highest levels and more champion defenses by a mile. DJ is the goat of Flyweight hard facts....no objective way to argue it.

Cruz is still argued as the best bantamweight champ, And Moraise was the beast of One and a highly respected champ of that org....Pantoja literally cant say the same. Maybe he does one day beat by the numbers DJ but that day still is not today.

If pantoja was a HW doing the same things he does, he'd be legendary status already. The only guy I'd put above him in his weight class, all time, would be DJ. Pantoja makes top 5 guys look amateur. No scandals, no PEDs, no shit talk or lies. Class fighter and just a hardworking and humble athlete

Pantoja definitely deserves more respect but that isn't really a fair comparison. The record for heavyweight belt defences is 3, the record for flyweight defences is 11. The divisions are fundamentally different.

Nah I wouldn’t say Heavyweight because people respect the Heavyweight division even less than they respect the Flyweight division. If he were a Welterweight or Middleweight doing what he’s doing, then yes 100%, Kamaru Usman was being talked about as the best fighter in the UFC after 4 title defenses.

Man, I really don't understand how Pantoja is not being pushed. They worshipped Jose, but Alex just isn't getting the love. Dudes swimming in a sea of bloodthirsty sharks and somehow is the Alpha. Now Van, who looks extremely impressive and don't think Kai was easy its just Alex is that fooking good. Alex is a damn monster, and I'm not sure Van is as ready as he believes for the enigma that Pantoja is. Merab better take this dude very seriously if he's genuinely looking to invade Bantamweight!

It's obvious, flyweight is not appealing to most people. On top of that, flyweight is not yet a great division, they need more people. They had to get a guy from another org for Pantoja to defend against, and then KKF who was on a 1 fight win "streak." I'm sure most hardcore fans appreciate him at least

Yeah levels apart from Pantoja, Van is going to get dominated and subbed. Van is not doing himself any favors, he is so young. He should fight more contenders and take some favorable contender fights first. He needs that high level experience but he got a little last night!

Pantoja deserves way more love and respect. He's cleared out a division. I know people don't typically get as excited about lighter weights but the UFC and Dana are supposed to be promoters. Might be worth trying to promote the man.

The issue with the flyweights getting recognition is that everyone in the division are so well rounded and so evenly matched that it's very rare to get dominant fighters and dominant champs so it becomes difficult for fighters to get that recognition and because of the weightclass ko's don't come around that often. That means the only ones who tend to respect the flyweights are the hardcore fans which is a small subsection of ufc fans

There’s NO established criteria for PFP Is it • 1 division champ or • Double champ • Number of title defense? • Number of consecutive wins? That’s the first step to establishing a true PFP

@@zurazuzu5712 this isn't an instagram influencer rank...topuria and merab still need to defend their titles multiple times to reach pantoja or ddp level. But I agree they deserve higher rank than Aspinal given their latest opponents rank. My criteria is: championship > opponents level > number of knockouts > instagram popularity. I see UFC as a sport competition, but I understand other people see it as entertainment, thus they see opponents level/number of knockouts as more important than the championship. That would make more sense as pure entertainment.

Merab beat 4 champions in a row, before that he beat title challenger in moraes, he also beat one of the most talented and well rounded fighters in Umar and all in dominant fashion. Ilia called 3 KOs on 3 champions and one of the GOATs of their divisions and delivered in fashion. Before that he 50-42ed former interim title challenger in emmett. You saying that Merab or Ilia did not fight proper competition is absolute joke, also having number of knockouts in criteria instead of dominance or well-roundness is laughable as it also opposes your argument having pantoja on N2, his last KO stoppage was in 2019, Merab had his in 2021. Just admit that you're a hater lol.
