The Hooker vs. Poirier fight was undoubtedly my favorite fight in years. So much back and forth, not knowing who was going to win the rounds. Dan Hooker got my respect that night. Top 5 fight of all time for me

@@jamesl5623 the end of round 2 of that poirier fight was amazing. One of the best rounds. 10 more seconds and the fight could have been finished. Poirier looked like he was out on his feet

The sounds in the Apex when Dan and Dustin are smashing each other’s faces is amazing. That fight was crazy. Dan decided to brawl, it was his path to victory, but Dustin was game.

Dude is seriously a warrior, made 0 excuses for the recent loss even though it was very short notice. Although I think taking that fight on short notice was a mistake and if he had a full camp the result would’ve been different you cannot argue with the grit of this man.

Hooker has quietly, yet quite efficiently, earned his way into many fans’ hearts, including my own. I hope he continues to evolve and shape his skills and legacy and maybe one day earn that belt. He’s got a champion’s heart for sure, very deserving in that regard imo

Conor is so unpredictable but that definitely has potential to be a great fight and Dan def deserves it. They shouldve fought a couple years ago, would have been a bloodbath.

it’s always surprised me how much muscle mass he has for a 6’0 lightweight. more than some of the 5’9 guys and even 5’8 guys, who are supposed to be more sturdy in that division

Man I love Hooker. Really became a fan over the last 5 years or so. Always puts on a show and really tough guy - he’s never out of a fight and has great heart. One of the most underrated and under discussed fighters in the UFC. A UFC Legend in my books!

Dan is already a legend in my books (and I'm sure many others) by giving us so much already despite all the covid related restrictions. Think we owe him big time as a community and as such please I ask you to follow his social medias etc as it costs us nothing and helps him out a lot getting better sponsorship deals and maybe make UFC appreciate him a bit more ! the first two rounds was amazing, after that Poirier recovered from all that damage while Hooker didn't recover and started fading.

A lot of guys say they want the hardest fights or that they'll fight anyone, but when they get the name it's a different story. Poirier, Chandler, Iaquinta, Felder, Barboza, Islam (on short notice). Dude walks the walk with nothing but a positive attitude, and that's why he's one of the most beloved fighters on the UFC roster.

That fight with Poirier absolutely terrified me at the time; I don't know how both of those men avoided extended hospital stays after that one. Hooker was definitely affected by it but now seems back to form and knows he needs to fight smarter and avoid more of those bang-out fights.

I'll always be a fan of Hooker and Porier for putting on that fight. That was one of the first fights I watched in the beginning of the pandemic, where there was fuckall going on in the world in general. Then I stumble upon this fight, first time I watched a fight live. I was 'hooked'. Hooker looked like the best lightweight in the world at the end of that second round. Still don't know how porier survived that... Absolute legends
