It's the nature of the sport. There's more money elsewhere for bigger guys so less of a pool. On top of that...there's plenty of athletic heavyweights out there competing, but as it's heavyweight...it's one mistep and you're knocked out. Potentially starting your career run again, over and over.

LHW is also a good example. We went from Jones, DC, Gus, and Glover to Jan, Jiri, Hill, Glover, and Poatan. I love Glover but he became champ only after DC, Jones, Gus, and Rumble retired. That's how bad LHW was.

Stipe vs DC 2 is the best fight in the heavyweight division. The buildup to the fight after losing the belt because of eye pokes, DC winning in the earlier rounds, best mid-fight adjustment and beautiful finishing sequence. Poetic justice

@ He's not that ''naturally'' gifted. If he was natty, he'd have lost to Gus, DC, Reyes, Santos, and likely a few more. He arguably still did lose to at least two of them. People vastly overrate his talent. He has good fight IQ, no question. But what else? Good proportions, sure, but shitty genetics to use them. His reach is no better proportionately than Pavlovich, for example, but he hits like a pillow which makes it almost useless. Jones without steroids would've been a solid top 3-5 fighter at 205 and 265 for all of his career. A Dustin Poirier type of career.

The thing with stipe is i genuinely believe hes never taken a ped or steroid and also never cut weight to make weight, meaning all his opponents were 10 20 30lbs heavier on the day of.
