Fighters from the French culture are always humble and well spoken, really cool to hear Ciryl in this press conference. That being said, I'm still rooting for Francis, but I won't be too disapointed if Ciryl wins either.
@Mangeur2Taasbante

Being French I see 2 reasons for that 1 : Regular French who don't know anything about combat sports (football is far ahead any sport in term of popularity) basically think that fighters are just rude people who don't know how to act without violence (particularly MMA fighters) so French fighters keep in their mind that they have to act chill and be well spoken to show people that they are not random dumb violent men but civilize men who chose to fight appreciating the sport more than the violence. 2 : In French culture we appreciate 2 things over everything : culture and humbleness no matter what your status is, if you want people to fuck with you, you HAVE to showcase those 2 before doing any trashtalking or some big money-spending otherwise you'll have a hard time being appreciated in the general opinion.

@@paulkowlessar oh thank u good Sir. Obviously it's *customer* the word I was looking for. You know, the vast majority of people will say that grammar/spelling nazis are just snobs with no life who spend their time combing internet comment sections (no less) so they can find any error and continue their haughty and persistent pedantic pestering without adding anything to the ideas and topics being discussed because that's how they get their high and because they have nothing else of substance to contribute. To make matters worse according to a seminal study done in 2016, people who are more sensitive to written typos and grammatical errors are indeed the kinds of jerks and/or introvert losers who are desperately trying to make themselves look and feel more intelligent. I , on the other hand tend to disagree and am personally very grateful. You see English is my 4th language and I'm always trying to better my level always open to learning. Ngannou is faster & more agile than Derrick Lewis; he's also much more athletic than Lewis. He also has 2-3 inch reach advantage. That means despite Gane's slight edge in mobility, he WILL have o extend himself a bit, arms and legs, for him to reach Ngannou. That's a very dangerous thing to do against Ngannou. Gane may be a bit more mobile, but it's mostly due to his hit and run approach to MMA; and Ngannou looks to be slightly less mobile, but it's also mostly because he plants his feet more firmly on the mat, so he could implement those high frequency one-punch KOs. On pure speed and agility, neither man is going to absolutely out class the other. Lewis is lazy as fuck & who also gobbles up half a dozen Big Macs in a sitting. That's not Ngannou; the man is fit like shit, like Gane also is. Gane wouldn't be able to just pepper Ngannou more or less at will like what he did to unfit, nonathletic Lewis, with Ngannou being unable to do some Rosenstruick blitzkriegs whenever he has Gane's rhythms down; and, no, Gane doesn't move like Sandhagen or Cruz; his mobility has predictable rhythms to it being so big & tall as Ngannou himself.

This new era is just a revolution. It's all about exploring the holes the fighters have whithin a certain weight class. When fighters in a certain weight class tend to rely too much on strength and less on cardio or technique, the fighter who will have enough strength but better cardio and technique will have the upper hand. In time the whole weight class will copy this fighter's approach so then in order to have the upper hand a new type of fighter will need to appear; maybe even more technical but less strong. As the strength factor gradually decreases in the division there will come a time again when a strong fighter will again rule the division, simply because technique alone without physicality to back it up is not enough to bear raw power. And the cycle goes on and on.

Will be an interesting fight. I think (hope) Gane might surprise us all a bit with a new game plan, different than he used for Lewis, etc... I think he has to show some new looks to Francis at the start, to disrupt. If Gane can take him down early, just to suck some wind out of Francis.... would be awesome. Think how Giga got drained bc of an early takedown. No reason to believe Gane has good ground game but.... it may be a good way to start? Gane's mindset is awesome coming into this. Btw, Francis knows where his weaknesses are, too. Thus he went to Couture.

Cyril Gane reminds me a lot of George Saint-Pierre. They're both humble down to earth guys, they're both very honest and simple in their interviews. They don't try to act like alpha male / leader of the wolf pack. They're just genuine.
