It’s not really a big deal. British history is thousands of events over thousands of years. We had many English civil wars, many British civil war, many wars in France, Spain and the rest of Europe all before the revolutionary war. In North America England had already fought the French, Spanish and Dutch. The American War of Independent is a huge deal to Americans and rightly so, but no big deal in Britain.
