Seeing so many people complaining about Ank holding Alex against the fence. He was throwing knees the whole time trying for takedowns. You just know if it was a fighter not as beloved as Pereira that no one would complain and they’d just say (rightly so) “he needs to stop allowing himself to be pinned against the cage for so long”. I think Alex overlooked Ank, too much time doing press and cornering Strickland not enough time preparing for his toughest matchup

Poatan will be fine. Honestly, this fight kind of reminded me a little bit in a way of the Juliana Peña versus Amanda Nunes fight. Amanda was dominant for a while, had a loss, and bounced back in dominant fashion. I personally saw nothing special with Ankalaev…I mean 12/12 takedown defense from Pereira, geez…Ankalaev held him up against the cage for 5 minutes… that was how he scored his points to win. Smart. Alex will make his adjustments and come back better than ever. Chama! 💯

@@shikaku2827😂😅… you’re right. Individually there’s nothing to compare, it was more along the lines of the fight. It’s just hard to see somebody who has been so dominant for so long lose while essentially being held up against a fence. Similar to how Juliana was able to get a freak submission.

Give it a week, people will see the fight frame by frame and the more people do the more they'll realize it was actually Pereira who won. Alex proved he can wrestle tonight and that he is a well rounded MMA fighter, fans just get tunnel vision bias when a dominant champion gets caught or put in a bad position in a fight. Especially if they're rooting against that champion.

Here’s some quick math I did based on publicly available numbers. The UFC in 2024 pulled in about 1.4B the NBA about 11.4B. Both have a comparable number of athletes, about 550. The lowest paid rookie basketball players pull about $1,000,000/yr. So the NBA making about 10x as much probably pays its athletes 10x as more? The lowest paid UFC fighter in 313 made $4,000. Fighter pay is a problem
