well the top stars of boxing make around 10x what the top stars of mma make but amateurs in mma tend to make more money then boxing amateurs so it is kind of a trade off, but i think its pretty safe to say boxing isn't dieing its still more popular then mma their ppv numbers prove it same with pro boxing purse compared to ufc purse, but i like both sports and both are thriving and ufc is growing at a fast rate it will probably surpass boxing soon

It's because most who watch UFC DON'T watch WEC is a problem. Less viewers = less advertising revenue = less pay for fighters. Hardly any of the fighters at this WEC even cracked $20k guaranteed purse money just to turn up. Brown made something like $16k. TUF guys make more then that. More title fights in UFC = more PPV buys, because most fans look for title fights to justify making a purchase. Outside of Penn vs Sanchez there won't be another title fight until Feb 2010, maybe longer! Fold WEC!

1) USA is the hotbed of MMA right now. Japanese MMA hasn't been the same since Fuji TV pulled out of Pride, Pride essentially collapsed under its own corruption and mismanagement and not even Zuffa could save the shambles it was in as no one in Japan wanted to touch it. Japan will pay over the odds for certain fighters, but there've been instances where they've not paid some fighters AT ALL (Nick Diaz being a prime example). North American PPV is where the money is right now for top MMA fighters

Japan when they had the money was a place to go but that's simply not the case anymore, unless you're a Japanese national hero (like an olympic medalist) where you get looked after a lot better then any gaijin. Akiyama left Japan for the states, and Gomi has made it clear that in fact it is the USA where "it's at" which is why he's trying to get a contract there.

UFC has most of the best fighters in the world. And by most i don't mean a 51% majority. They have easily 75% if not more. Apart from certain fighters that are technically world class but largely unknown, other promotions bring very little to the table. I think UFC would co-promote if there was a promotion with a proven track record and similar level of BUSINESS SUCCESS. Strikeforce isn't there yet, while Affliction, Elite XC, Bodog, IFL, WFA all failed. UFC have nothing to gain with copromotion

UFC PPV buys only total 250,000? And the lack of knowledge continues. Let me provide some facts for you. UFC 97 - 625k UFC 98 -635k UFC 99 -360k UFC 100 - 1.7 Million. UFC 101 - 900k. UFC 102 - 435k. UFC 103 about 600k. Fact is UFC 105 (which you are basing all your misinformation on) was free on Spike TV. At the end of last year UFC 92 did 1.2 Million and UFC 91 did 1 Million back to back.

since when is boxing dying? i like mma more but it is still more popular around the world then mma is, boxing is very popular outside of the us as well as in the us, the same is not true for mma, it is popular in alot of parts outside of the us but not as much as boxing

*sighs* when you upload a video on to youtube. Even when the video is live, YT still process the video. So no its not a "set quality". During the short-term the quality does get better, but it is only a few hours. ONLY A FEW HOURS. Its not that a year old video is amazing quality, the quality gets better after a couple of hours of the vid being live. The quality gain subjects to diminishing returns. If you dont believe go read the youtube support section. Im not lying to you...

Ortiz Griffin wasn't controversial i had the first round close and Griffin killing tito the 2nd two. Ortiz says he got two take downs in the 2nd to win it? BS. he got 2 take downs and did hardly anything (ripping scar tissue looks cool but doesnt get you extra points) In fact Tito was in more danger in griffins gaurd not to mention all the damage he took trying to get the take downs. If the president of Zuffa in his personal vlogs can't show any interest in the fights WEC put on, while there in person with the best seats in the house, how do they expect casual fans to care about the WEC? Rightly/Wrongly the perception of WEC is an inferior show & product. It's the B-Show. It's the AAA to the Major Leagues. And everyone in the AAA wants to be in the Major League. More promotion, more money, more prestige. Guys like Brown & Aldo should be in UFC FW title fights nothing less

true but the ufc more or less has the monopoly on all the best fighters with the exceptions of the lw and hw divisions since they don't have fedor or aoki, 6 of the top 10 hw's and 6 of the top 10 lw's and those are the ufc weakest divisions, tbh i preferred pride over ufc but ever since zuffa bought them out and dismantled them nothing has really compared i would say SF is the second best but not a close second, and the WEC is owned by zuffa so more or less it is the ufc they own the contracts

Maybe MMA fans that are clueless are angry with the UFC for those reasons, but knowledgeable MMA fans know that the UFC does not pick the judges or the referees. The UFC cannot be held accountable for the judges or referees of their events. Want to blame someone blame the State Athletic Commissions. The UFC is subject to their rulings. Without the Athletic Commissions the UFC would be nowhere like it was in its infancy.
