As someone who lives 30 minutes from the Canadian border. The Canadian customs officials are much more agreeable about silly mishaps than the American counterparts. What she said is right. You have to be more worried about getting back in the US than getting into Canada. I've heard horror stories of Americans being stuck in Canada for weeks because of lost Identification.

@roninpainbringer that is not true, a passport is required to get into Canada, this was changed last year, I believe in June so yes you would definitely NEED a passport to get into canada
