I miss the old Vlogs, like spending the Day with Dana. I enjoyed seeing the "business" side of it with him.. I think its cool to see some of the fighters stuff back ground but after seeing a few it gets old to me. I may be alone in this but I wish they'd do them like they used to.

i agree that there is no point in creating an interim belt if he doesn't defend it. i also think that if you decide you are no longer a fan of Carlos Condit because he made the best decision for him personally and for his career, then you weren't really a "fan" or supporter of his in the first place.

Keep in mind that both Guida and Maynard were still very much in the heat of the moment here. Adrenaline still pumping. Guida upset about the decision, Maynard upset about chasing him around. Once they got to the press conference they were both very level-headed and respectful.

@ aFew points during the fight.Especially when Guida landed those headkicks Gray was wobbled&was backing away.I NEVER saw Guida wobbled in the fight.Grays face looked worse than Guida.But only@the end of the fight did Guidas eye swell up.Gray maybe landed only 5 powershots during the whole fight..lol.

I understand Guilda not wanting to stand too much in the pocket with Maynard but it isn't a game of tag, it's a fight. Perhaps the should look at making the octagon smaller so confrontations are easier to engage in.

@harvindarvin13 жыл бұрын
They are completely different. Condit out struck Diaz. Guida didn't outstrike Gray. Condit did damage and circled away. Guida threw a jab that landed every now and then and RAN. There is a huge difference in running and circling away and there is a huge difference in Condit's and Guida's performances.
@bcha013 жыл бұрын
Clay Guida had no control of the Octagon's Center, Striking's equivalent of Grappling's Top Position. He had no significant damage on Maynard either to make up for it.

Thing is, I've seen Guida fight before and yeah, lots of head movement and unpredictable angles are his thing, yet last night, he just didn't seem like he was doing anything with it. At one point, I think in the fifth, he caught Maynard with a head kick and 2-3 stiff punches, looked like he wobbled him a bit, but he didn't do capitalize at all. He usually brings the fight, dunno what he was doing last night.
@SinisterSkip13 жыл бұрын
You can also dodge/ strafe or use takedowns to avoid punches. Plenty of options except for running away. Either way, I don't have to convince anyone. People lose respect for Guida on this one, I do too. People think Gray won, I do too. I have nothing to prove. Guida has, in his next fight, this is a fact :)

You say Condit changed after having one performance that you didn't like against Diaz. When before that, he knocked out Kim with a flying knee in the first round, knocked out Dan Hardy, and finished Rory McDonald coming from behind in the 3rd. The fight with Diaz was a gameplan and he was actively striking and engaging Diaz. You are really overlooking his previous performances leading up to Diaz. He will not fight the same against GSP.
@trivrock2k613 жыл бұрын
Lol, you write Diaz and there was a 50% percent chance that I would think of the wrong one (and in the context you were talking about it, it could well have been the Nick-Condit fight). It must be so refreshing to be all masculine and derogative on the internet, imma' have to try in sometime :).

I think its going to be Pettis vs Maynard next and the winner gets a title shot after Diaz. That would be a great fight.
@Compufighter13 жыл бұрын
yeah i agree, but this the thing, Gray had more power in his hands and has better stand up and wrestling, so clay only had the hard options left, play the endurance game, pull guard, kick and wear out the legs or pin him up on the cage the truth is the reason why clay did not do that is simply because Gray is a better fighter, Clay wasn't confidant with those major area's of mma when he was fighting, he had nothing he could do.

This is ridiculous. Clay Guida has won 6 Fight of the Night Awards, 2 Submission of the Night Awards, and is one of the most exciting lightweights in the world. He puts on one lackluster fight and suddenly all the fair weather fans come out of the woodwork and says he "lost their respect".
@MARQ2313 жыл бұрын
at the same time, why stand and trade with the heavier striker? i tihnk it was a good gameplan except Guida just wasn't able to land the punches he wanted to...he landed some decent headkicks but other than that not too much...

If you are mad that Clay was trying to play a stick and move game plan, and wasn't throwing enough offense to make it competitive, then I agree that you have a point. However can I just say that MMA is a sport and sometimes in order to win, you aren't going to have the most entertaining fight style. People are going to complain about it, I don't care. I thought it coulda gone either way, depending on if you think Gray standing in the center makes a diff. Gray only really won by 4 punches.

With boxing/punching becoming the prime weapon of choice for many,expect to see more defensive tactics as well.Aggressors will then have to be good enough to slow down a counter attacker.Diaz wasnt good enough to slow Condits movement and did not utilise kicks/takedowns,etc as he was not good enough in his skillset or tactically poor.Fighters will have to learn to adapt at all times whether its a wrestler,counter puncher,kickboxer,etc.Thats why its MMA.
@8701F13 жыл бұрын
no octagon control, no aggression.. the man just ran his ass off
@JustOneMorgan13 жыл бұрын
You are basically saying Condit will fight the same against GSP. He will not. Plus Jackson won't be in either man's corner for that fight because they are both his fighters. Condit was very active with his strikes against Diaz. Go look at the fight metric. Lots of leg kicks. He landed some slick shots including a nice head kick or two on Diaz. Yes it wasn't the fight that you or Nick Diaz wanted, but he outstruck him and in my opinion did a lot more than Diaz did to earn the decision.

Maybe it was an accident, I have long hair, and even when its tied up like that, I occasionally get it pulled when i'm rolling. All it takes is one finger to get stuck in a knotty part of your hair (which Guida has lots of) and it feels like someone is yanking your head off.
