@@jaykotey6228 Bud it is quite complicated, what that statements means. First of all, you need to be born and bred South African to understand it. South Africa, has lots of sh!t going on. On average 75 people gets murdered every single day in South Africa, there is severe poverty, the government is corrupt, the police force is corrupt and provide criminals with weapons. Lots of sports in South Africa don't get funded like in America, Australia etc.. In rugby, we have limited resources, but we have won 4 rugby world cups from 8 attempts which is phenomenal. Compare to first world countries, we always have the least amount of resources, least amount of money, but we manage to compete with the best in the world. There is this South African spirit, that heart, the 11 different languages, despite all the poverty, the struggle, the government who steal all the money while so many people have no food to eat, South Africans don't have electricity always for 24 hours a day, some people have to walk kilometers to get water, some people's toilets are outside. All this somehow unite us. Despite everything, we pull through and we will make sure we beat the world when we compete. Despite everything we love our country we are patriots and we will prove that we are the best. The battles Dricus fight in that Octagon, is not nearly as big as the battles he fights in his own country. All these things contributed to most South Africans having a heart that is very difficult to describe. We don't give up, we can be tired AF, we will pull through etc.etc. Dricus comes from a small gym - CIT which he is Co-owner of. His Coach Morne Visser has been his first MMA coach and he is still his coach. Best coach in the world in my opinion. They started this thing with limited resources. In the meantime, Dricus won 3 world titles outside of the UFC, to even get recognised by the UFC, he had to put himself out there, as the UFC did not look at our fighters. Today, the gym CIT grew so much and they have great programs there, especially for juniors. You will see multiple UFC champions from that gym in about 10 to 20 years time. We in South Africa knew, since 2013 when he made his regional debut in South Africa, that he will become UFC champion one day. We knew that 10 years ago. He started his pro career off from an undefeated kickboxing career. In that Octagon, he shows that heart, even when he is tired, he will always be more active than his opponent, he will always hit harder than his opponent, there is a higher purpose driven by the circumstances in his country and also his family name that drives him. This is why we always laugh at people who says that he gasses. They don't know what we know. The hope that he creates for people in the continent will be insane when he wins that gold. Lastly, when he fought Whittaker, in our eyes Whittaker had no chance. Dricus was going to beat up Rob, because people don't know what we know. How many people outside of South Africa gave Dricus a chance? Bud, this what I said now, is 1% of what that statement means. Maybe one day, Dricus can put this in better words.
