Almost 40 years ago, a teenaged Daniel Severn traveled to the USSR to represent America in what was supposed to be an under-18's amateur wrestling tournament. Instead, he found himself in a brutal, virtually no-holds-barred brawl with a grown man. Watch the full video on UFC FIGHT PASS.

It says in the KZbin description that he traveled to the USSR, but in the video he says he went to Turkey.

Soviet territorial claims to Turkey from 1945 to 1953 consisted of several different proposals for normalizing the Soviet-Turkish border in a way favorable to the Soviet Union and relevant constituent nationalities in the Eastern Anatolia Region. The United States opposed these claims and the Soviets eventually dropped them to better relations with the Americans. i googled dat :p

Before I watched this, I was at his wiki page, reading about his life. Surprised that he had been in Turkey, too. And just after that, I see this! What a great surprise for a Turkish fighting fan like me! We owe UFC to legends like this. Respect. Also, so cool to hear "I'm not afraid of anything because I wrestled in Turkey" :)

Meh, Who knows if that really happened or if he is exaggerating which is likely for the little fightography thing. Beating a man by one point who is twice your age isn't that impressive either. In every Olympics all the history shows the USA is far from number 1. Russia and Japan are both above the USA. Of course someone is going to post some misinterpreted stuff probably to try to argue against this. sigh

jeremyshambles when you have fought against 127 fighters and is considered a living legend and is a UFC HALL OF FAMER, than you have every right to boast. Plus its his fightography idiot its about them and their careers. Out all the crazy shit that Dan has done and how many times he has fought this seems believable. Plus what he meant that amateur wrestlers not experiencing what he has is that amateur wrestling has evolved so shit like that doesn't happen as often, so most of them won't ever experience something like that.
