@@klocus2824 Biden has done a good job managing both inflation and geopolitical conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine, especially considering the slim government majority he has/had. The reduction in inflation in most products is good but the obvious glaring exception of housing prices is so clearly a problem. The union actions with uaw, Starbucks, Amazon and even the actors guild are good signs of strong labor power, but wages are still not growing very fast. The slowdown from COVID will hopefully help with the entertainment industry lower costs and diversify production away from big budget superhero/remakes of older ip. The competition has pushed some production back overseas but overall I think higher tax rates on rich companies and specifically taxes on stocks would help bandaid the problems that high efficiency causes with production requiring less workers. But really we need a global unified tax laws so places like the caiman islands and Bermuda can’t allow these massive inequalities to waste wealth. Also agricultural lobbyists need to curbed as us and Canadian farmers get help from their own governments unfairly hurting farmers from poorer areas. Estimates range around 200bil could be saved from removing these crutchs. Overall lower economic growth rates in developed countries can be solved by immigration specifically from Africa as there are many unstable countries with more corruption that isn’t desirable for companies. But immigration can outstrip housing, specifically in Canada. The Big economic union, the eu has run into the problem of fiscal conservatism, where countries like Portugal and Greece are still in-debt more than a decade after the Great Recession, but king makers in the EU like Germany refuse to allow spending to get these countries out of their prolonged recession. Both populations revolt from the harsh economic conditions of irresponsible Greek gov spending on powerful interest groups, with niether Greek citizens wanting to suffer more austerity or German people hating the idea of there taxes going to a irresponsible foreign government. This hopefully just means more bi/multilateral trade agreements instead of a turn towards mercantilism. Overall I’m still hopeful for more social and economic integration but growing pains like job displacement bc of easier mobility of capital/globalization and ethnic tensions bc of immigration(due to either conflicts/violence in poorer regions or climate change[flooding in poor agrarian areas]) have caused slowdowns but Rome wasn’t built in a day.
