jtube411 people don't realise that Weidman threw a back hand, throwing off Anderson's timing so his head came back forward for the left hook. it wasn't just messing around. if Weidman would've thrown the basic jab, cross,hook he wouldn't have knocked Silva out. But after the straight, he threw his right in a backhand which silva avoided & seeing as he probably counted three punches, he didn't expect the left hook which is what caught him
@freebee82218 жыл бұрын
Weidman still wouldv won . silva fought mostly easy opponents, tuf rejects ect, but todays top middle-weights like weidman, rockhold, bisping, romero, they all could beat silva. The game has evolved. I don't know, this is the thing...go back and watch the other fights Silva had and did this same kind of stuff and then look back at this fight and you'll notice one key difference: those guys in the striking game coulnd't even touch Silva. Here, Weidman was. Silva had both inhuman reflexes back then and the ability to move in and out of range and even when he was hit while standing he looked like he was rolling with the punches, while if you look at this fight, Weidman hit Silva several times, not with big, heavy shots, but he seemed like he figured out how to get in Silva's range and connecting. And that was big because Silva should have realized that if Weidman could hit him, than he could also eventually land the big, knockout shot. Weidman had won his previous fight by knockout after all, wrestling sure was his main weapon but he was better than a Chael Sonnen on his feet. I think Silva made it easier for Weidman, but I think Weidman was far away from outmatched here. I think it would have been a tough, close fight even if Silva didn't underestimate Weidman.

I hate people saying he threw the fight. You have proof? The fact of the matter is Anderson played games with the wrong fighter. He had been getting away with clowning for a long time. It didn't work this time. Silva had that Mike Tyson-like intimidation factor going, Chris didn't buy into it. Watch the replay. Chris rocked his world. He dropped him in the second fight as well. Let's also not forget that Anderson is on the wrong side of 30. And the argument about Anderson's chin being able to take that? Watch Lutter vs Eastman. They call it the button for a reason.
@jcwelchjr9 жыл бұрын
What the hell are you on about? I wasn't saying anything about race. Is this some feeble attempt to start a racial argument, because if it is, take that crap elsewhere. Oh, and btw, Cain Velasquez, Jon Jones and Anthony Pettis all lost their belts a while ago. Also, the UFC has more Caucasian champions then anything else (Rousey and Jędrzejczyk count too). @being51009 жыл бұрын
the circumstance that skews results is motivation; white people generally realise education and hard work is a better bet than putting your life on the line; they also have a systme that skews results in their favour whereas latino's feel fighting is their out... it is about motivations... nothing inherent...

That still proves my point, some of his best victories were when he was countering with his hands at his waist, it's not just arrogance either, it allows his striking to be relaxed and fluid, and makes it a lot easier to defend takedowns. Everything that you see as being over confident is all part of his technique

You know how some people say that "everything happens for a reason"? I believe that Anderson Silva needed those two losses. The first one was for him(and all other fighters) to realize that he is not invincible and that he needs to fix those holes in his genius style. The second loss, gave him a broken leg and a long time to sit out of the game and think. To take all that time and think his way back. And now I think we will start the second phase of Anderson's legend. He needed to get out so that he can come back more complete and even smarter. Im very excited, because some people still have doubts about him but he is about to show the world exactly why he is the best fighter in the world.

Infinite Mixer Who, me..? I didnt break my leg, but I did destroy my left hand which got twisted the opposite way at the elbow after a bike accident. So I know how much pain is involved, I have metal plates just like Anderson did. So my comment IS based on a mutual understanding of how such an injury can potentially impact a anyone's mental stability. And I wrote all that because my injury helped me in the long run just as I know Anderson's injury will help him come back stronger.
@DW_Teknos10 жыл бұрын
TBH, Anderson is already 41 years old.... for him to hold the title as long as he did is an achievement that has earned him the title of a legend of UFC. In Anderson's first loss he was being too cocky and he underestimated Weidman. His second was just pure bad luck

***** keep being mad lel. sorry just needed to say that, but on the real. He won, dont worry anderson is still the GOAT, and i actually believe he didnt take steroids till after the injury either, but he lost to weidman, stop acting like he didnt. He fought basically the same fighter, if not better than anderson in machida, and he won that too.

Though nobody will probably read this, I do believe that Anderson had/has what it takes to beat Weidman.. The kicks he was landing were well-placed, his striking is absolutely phenomenal.. I was honestly sad to see him lose the title. It makes me wonder if he just kinda gave up hope.. or if he was ready to be done with fighting.. He talked a lot about not having the amount of time with his family that he truly wanted. It seemed like the way he was "coaching" Weidman in the fight was to hype Chris up to be the champion that everybody needed if they didn't have Anderson... Maybe I'm just blabbing. But Anderson was a respectable champion, that's for sure.

+Tanner Wilstead Also in the fight he was talking smack, but gave 'respect' at the end of the first round. Mentally it looked like he wasn't trying to win. Still respect to Weidman for doing what he did.
@thomaslewis61079 жыл бұрын
Yeah I understand what your saying but tbh I don't think silva would have wanted to go out like that coz he is one of the best ever and to get knocked out by Chris like that after taunting him like crazy just dosent seem planned or humbled if you know what I mean, I think the taunting was just to mess with Chris head and it back fired horribly no one is invincible and everyone makes mistakes that was one of them I think.
@enabler24569 жыл бұрын

You're right, it seemed like Silva was more into having fun and putting on a show, rather then just going in and getting the win. Like he was getting bored with fighting and the way Weidman kept running and not engaging at first in that fight, Silva was like come on, i want to fight...and also like you said, idt his heart was in being champion anymore, like he already proved everything he needed to in MMA...i don't think he wanted to lose per say or lose like that by a vicious KO...but i think he wanted to have and put on a show more then just going in there, being serious and getting the win. Agree or not, but if Silva would of kept his hands up, didn't play around like that..i doubt Weidman would of won or gotten the finish.

What I dont understand is the whole "weidmans playing a dangerous game" thing when he outstruck anderson for every minute of the fight. Just because you are showboating doesnt mean you are winning.
@bebonotnice17733 жыл бұрын
I guess it's cause Anderson has a history of doing all that and ending a fight in an instant. You got to remember at the time there was an aura of invincibility around him when this was going down

Did you see the Bonnar fight? He put his back against the cage and let himself get punched in the chin repeatedly, he was able to react fast enough and roll with the punches. The Belfort fight he had his hands down, the Maia fight, the Griffin fight, the Okami fight, Both Sonnen fights he hand his hands, even if it was only standing for a short time. Most of those fights are considered his best victories. You can't tell me that he was bored in all those fights, and somehow got lucky every time.
Nah a lot of fighters do that guess all the hits to the head

Everyone acts like Silva was just fucking around when he's clearly extremely annoyed that Weidman started doing nothing when they got back to standing up. Weidman became extremely timid and wouldn't throw at all, just kept backing up every time Silva threw. How disappointed would you be if you had to defend a championship belt in a sport that you love against someone who runs away the entire fight? Silva had to force Weidman to man up by dropping his guard completely signalling,"I'm only human, fucking do something, please!"
@jeffreythomas74666 жыл бұрын
that is a great analysis of what happened...he just took it a little too far. I don't think we would of saw Silva drop off like he did, if he would of won. That KO and then the injury ruined him. I don't think it was his age or a diminishing skill set, i think his falling off is/was purely mental. And that was a vicious KO. And then to go in there and suffer that type of injury. It's a shame someone as great as Silva had that happen.
