+94chicity I was thinking the same thing. There's some really great advice here, addressing a lot of commonly asked questions about MMA training, but I'm really reticent to share this video with my students specifically because the last segment is a name dropping infomercial for trademark products.

Greg Jackson reminds me more of Sun Tzu, then an MMA coach. This man puts together strategies and analyzes his opponents, and goes in and wins the wars. His guys go in and win a lot of their fights and come out the least damaged. And that is how you win wars.

I hate videos that kisses the behinds of supplement companies. It's just like watching commercials on tv!
@Truthseeker196110 жыл бұрын
Annoyed easily? Those endorsements were about as brief as you can get. You can use whatever supplement you want, but if he thinks it's a good supplement company for MMA, coming from an elite trainer that's produced great fighters, I'm gonna listen to him whether it briefly sounds like a commercial or not.
@Eric-ky3fo10 жыл бұрын
He didn't even mention one name of a supplement company so he is't doing that. He just said you should use supplements to help your workouts.
@muvo9410 жыл бұрын
Eric Jesperson Yes he mentions Muscle Pharm which is a supplement company and he mention them quite alot in this vid i would say, so yes he does
@Eric-ky3fo10 жыл бұрын
MuvoN He's just giving an example of generic supplements and isn't all like "Buy this Sup" or "you need this Sup". Still this video has a lot of good tips. And using a protein sup of energy sup defiantly helps your game. At least for me it does.
@irvingmdomin629 жыл бұрын
How can you say anything bad about Greg promoting muscle pharm, he's getting paid for that. It's part of his job. Half of you probably sell fast food or some overpriced clothes or cars for a living. Same thing, Greg is just on a higher platform.

Greg is a very observant and savvy coach. He makes styles and gameplans for each of his fighters based on their individual traits and abilities, AS WELL as on their opponents. It is a step toward the NFL/NBA style of ANALYSIS of opponents. It can't be just stand and bang , just bleed foolishness forever.
@vincentlyckowski92288 жыл бұрын
I completely defer to Greg on how to set up a training schedule. I don't know if I feel the same about his stance on Olympic lifts or nutrition. Greg is an amazing mma coach.

Greg Jackson is a great coach. He knows how to win fights, and at the end of the day that is what matters. People base his entire camp off of two guys? Condit who had two decisions ever in his MMA career. And GSP who dominates a fight for all 5 rounds, which is incredible in its own right. Just going 3 rounds is exhausting. But to go 5 and maybe lose 1 round every few fights is incredible. Now look at the rest of the camp: Diego, Jones, Guida. You can not say they are "boring" fighters.

its true, starving yourself with one or two big meals a day tells your body to conserve fat. thats one of the reasons that a lot of poeple that are trying to lose weight but are uninformed can have a hard time. If you eat small, clean meals through out the day while exercising, its telling your body that it no longer needs to store fat for fasting.

You guys can criticize all you want about his stable of fighters and how most of them fight for sport (point sparring, laying and praying) as opposed to brawling or pushing for a finish, but you can't deny that his fighters come into the octagon/ring in incredible shape. I personally don't enjoy his camp's gameplanning tactics but that doesn't diminish the value of his training and nutrition tips (minus the shameless advertisements).

"do no pass guard" "leg kick and run" "jab and run" Leaving it in the judge's hands is Greg's favorite saying.

He made George st Pierre to George Safe Pierre. He also taught Carlos Condit to throw leg kicks and make sure go for a jog right after. He turned exciting fighters into boring fighters. Good for him but shitty for the fans. I used to buy PPVs now I just download them later after watching UFC 143 I thought I was done with UFC. But I like others fighters still. Thiago Alves and Thiago Silva my fav fighters. Do they always win - NO but they always bring it.

You guys always have something negative to say I know for a fact you guys don't know as much as he knows when it comes to training and prep for a fight he's not saying he's 100% responsible for his fighters success he's saying he's helped them succeed I would train with Greg Jackson any day! This is supposed to be for our benefit not for you to bash him. I've seen so many fighters who focus on one aspect of the game and fail he's just letting the audience know that there's more to it then pad work and strength training

the bodybuilding myth of 6 small meals a day to raise your metabolism. just as long as you get your calories/macros it doesnt matter you could do it in 3 meals. And yes i do train and diet. I dont know if any of these fighters actually take all these supplements. They are sponsored my MP so I understand. I only take MP Assault (pre) and MP Armor-V (multi) myself. Everything else I get from eating a healthy balanced diet. Btw, Greg Jackson, body builders don't spend 20 minutes between their sets. More like 30 sec - 3 min depending on the type of workout.
