This new humble version of Usman seems to be a legend. Since he started losing, he's become one of the most loved fighters in the UFC. It's crazy how fast the entire fan base shifts when a fighter stops being smug. I think the last time this happened was probably Bisping, who was once very smug and brash, but is now mostly loved by fans. I wish we had been able to see this version of Usman through his career, because he really lost a lot of fans by never being real.

Usman said earlier in the show, he didn't know what Colby said, to get Leon to react. But you can see at 20:00 when Jon Anik said what Colby said and you can see Usman's reaction, he was shocked so yeah, Leon did what a lot of people would do champ or not. Fantastic video. Usman is a great analyst and a natural on camera. I'm a fan of both but I will be rooting for Leon (I'm from Birmingham). I am concerned about the consequences of Colby getting into Rocky's head. I have zero issues with what Colby said to Leon. I myself don't think there are any 'lines' that can be 'crossed' when it comes to fighting sports trash talk. This is such a subjective thing and it changes over time. I lost my father at the same age as Leon (cancer not murder). I was shocked at what Colby said and I would never say anything like that to anyone. But I would also never get into the Octagon to fight someone so who am I to judge? This is a serious business. Your opponent is trying to smash your face to a pulp, kicking the living daylights out of you and will choke you at any opportunity. If it were me I could well imagine doing/saying literally anything to help me get the win 🙏🏾
@xtrapills
@xtrapills Жыл бұрын
The point is the comment was not in keeping with the spirit of martial arts. Colby is a filthy stain on the sport and Leon will head kick him into another dimension. There are definitely lines when it comes to a sporting contest. This is supposed to be a civilised sanctioned fight with a referee not a roman colosseum battle to the death. There are written rules and unwritten rules and colby has gone too far and he will get seriously hurt tomorrow night when Leon smells blood. Anybody who defends his ridiculous comment clearly doesn’t understand what this sport is supposed to mean and the values behind it.

I wasn’t a fan of Usman during his title reign but man nowadays I’ve started to really like him, especially after he stepped up on super short notice against Chimaev, what a badass. Even after all the BS Colby dragged him through verbally, he picked him as the winner. I think the best thing about this sport is when fighters show respect after their fights. Like how Colby and Usman just stood in the center of the octagon and talked, hell the ref had to tell them to stop and go to their corners lol. Respect goes a long way not just for the fighters but also for the fans that are actually attached to the sport. But that being said I don’t know if Leon will give Colby a chance to apologize about his recent comment on Leon’s late father.

Make usman a staple presence Ufc. You can see the fan reaction here in the comment section is nothing but positive. The guy has the presence and can talk. Easy call, bring him in.
