No he's not! 😂 He was #2 during this fight and #5 rn. "Insanely underrated"??? 😂😂 You say that like he's #15 or he hasn't gotten a title shot, You need to put more credit on Burns because idk where you're getting that from. "Insanely underrated" 😂😂😂 bruh Shavkat is "insanely underrated" Jailton Almeida is "insanely underrated" hell Beneil Dariush is the perfect example of someone who is "insanely underrated" but Gilbert Burns!? 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️ You kinda sound like you just started watching with a statement like that (and I'm sure you're a long time fan) so whatever made you say something like that stop eating, smoking, drinking, snorting it because NOBODY thinks Durinho is "insanely underrated" that's dramatic AF family. 😂

@Colin Colin you should have seen what I said to a guy who was lying talking about something was so funny he spit out his drink like a 90s sitcom and almost peed his pants 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️ grown ass man, he was just begging trap lore Ross to like his comment with a cringy ass comment like that. I think I saw yours after that and I was on one. I was petty AF last night. Sometimes the comment section just kills me. Yo shit made me sit back and calm down

Khamzat is a beast. However, I think it’s impressive that Gilbert, being at a complete size disadvantage, was able to knock Khamzat down and really challenge him. Its one thing to beat down a tall guy but its another when the tall guy is an executioner in the Octagon.

Was a great fight. In truth, I think it sort of showed that Khamzat is still a bit raw as a striker. Much to improve on but he'll probably be that much better as result of this scrap

Hope has a point ☝️ lol. Khamzat has a tendency to just stand in the pocket and brawl, upright and flatfooted. He got countered A LOT and while Burns is much improved as a striker he's not considered elite. It'll be interesting to see if Khamzat employs this strategy in the future

This was a great fight. Both are definitely elite fighters. Chimaev won rounds 1 and 3... Burns won the 2nd. Both hit really hard and they have great chins as well, to go along with their ground games. Burns however threw an upkick at the end of the 1st that wasn't looked at. He also, after dropping Chimaev in the 2nd, he threw another illegal soccer kick to his head while he was down, but luckily, it didn’t land. He should've been warned about it. And as Chimaev grabs him, Burns throws illegal shots again a...with a 12 to 6 elbows and b...to the back of the head. Those should have been warned or a point taken off considering the 3 illegal attempts happening consecutively. This is not to hate on him as i like him as a fighter and he is also really cool... but he did attempt them, so he should've been reprimanded for it in some way.

@8:58 nobody caught it but Gilbert was battering Chimaev's head so hard he literally had to reset back and then got kicked in the chest. This is so interesting to rewind and rewatch because how could Chimaev with all his experience make such rookie move and to keep his hands down while having a fighter with tree trunks for legs in position to kick you? Man got hit so hard he disengaged for a few seconds.

Vincent
Vincent 23 күн бұрын
no round 1 clearly with way more significant strikes and knockdown for khamzat. 10-8 Round 2 for Burns very clearly, also with a knockdown; 8-10 Round 3 Burns was just trying to survive and only had one good sequence in which he threw all he had, the rest of the round was very clearly dominated by Khamzat; 10-9 overall; 28-27 khamzat.. Fights with 3 rounds are almost always won like this, you cannot call this paper thin. Khamzat's cardio, striking and wrestling was superior. Burns had better power but that was about it

Had people not gone through the buildup of Khamzat's story prior to this fight, I don't think they'd leave with the impression that he's a great fighter after watching this. Good chin and relentless, yes. Impressive striking defense and offense, not so much. I'd say that Gilbert overloaded him in the second portion of the fight with feints and punches, Khamzat was just wailing and whiffing on a lot of his attempts.

Yeah. There's truth to this. More like if this was Khamzat's first appearance the hype wouldn't build that much. But realistically Chimaev made this fight much harder on himself than it had to be. He established pretty early in the fight that he is way superior grappler. Yet he still chose to stand and brawl for the most part and almost got knocked out in result. Almost looked like he was letting himself get rocked on purpose.

Kham is an AMAZING fighter and he knows it. Overconfidence almost cost him this fight and one could argue he did lose. He's a good boxer, his length allows him to dominate if he can keep his opponent at arms length. An example of that is when he knocked Burns down with a stiff jab. I think Kham and Burns were shocked. In the future Kham would do well to allow the fighter to come to him. Fighters with his size lose their power when you smother them, close the ring off. The thing is ...Kham engaged the smother and it almost backfired on him.

Chimaev with that fucking titanium jaw and monstrous physique and power and stance switch Burns with such regenerative speed and immense right hand power, and ability to fight back amidst a storm of punches This fight literally could've gone anywhere if they gave them 4 or even 5 rounds! yeah, I tend to agree with this assessment. In round 3 when Gilbert was shuffling away it made it look like Khamzat was the one pursuing, but that looked a lot more like Gilbert leading the fight. Also Khamzat got tagged a lot in the last round, fights should be scored on punches connecting and damages inflicted and not who can act more connivingly like punches didn't hurt.

Much respect for Burns as a #2 ranked taking on a fight against #11 ranked Khamzat. That's like #2 ranked Gathje accepting a #11 ranked Makhachev in 2021 except none of them won't dare to risk it. Burns is one of a kind.
PJ Corno
PJ Corno 9 ай бұрын
They don’t want to risk it because losing to an 11th ranked fighter if you’re in the top 3-5 looks bad. Yet if you’re ranked 2 and you fight 11 you SHOULD win that fight and put an easy W on the resume. But if you do win ppl say “well he should’ve won his opponent was ranked 11” and if he loses then it looks really bad, so it’s kind of a lose/lose situation all except for adding a win to your record. But even though Khamzat was ranked way down at this point he was still on a murder spreee and putting on a crazy display of domination in the UFC. And this fight was sick. Definitely much respect to both guys for brawlin it out the way they did. Very close fight but I’d say Khamzat definitely took it. I think Khamzat beats Diaz with no trouble and then gets a title fight against Leon. After that, Gilbert will probably face Usman and then that winner will face winner of Khamzat/Edwards.

It’s going to be impossible to explain to anyone who didn’t live through the initial hype train / come up of Khamzat why this fight was as amazing as it was and how so many of us were on the edge of our seats and our stomachs were in our throats and hearts pounding.

Just tell them that he knocked The shart out of The 'Shart, with the very first punch he threw. Then say that he picked Li Jingliang up above his head, span him around like a helicopter, before launching him about 15 rows out into the crowd, all the while screaming at Dana, things like "I OWN YOU" & "UFC IS MINE"

@Peed Phd Yeah Khamzat and Khabib have benefited from very good matchups. That's why Silva and Jones are Co-GOATs. They cleaned out their divisions twice (Jones lost to Reyes and Gus though).

@Sasquatch hardly. He is ranked number 2 and number 11 just beat him. If Burns were more proven, then he woulda finished Chimaev, let alone win by decision. Not to mention Burns was cheating his ass off in this fight

The craziest thing about Burns is that, as the fight progressed, his striking got more powerful. Those third round overhands and hooks hit Khamzat so hard he would go off balance constantly. Khamzat had the pressure on him though at all times, but Burns had more striking power. What a fight!

if burns could’ve let his hand go earlier in the 3rd round it prolly would’ve went to him. Too bad he only started doing that for the last minute and half

@TwoTwon khamzat outboxed him with his jab so that he couldn’t ever overhand counter him. He used his reach advantage in the first half of the third round perfectly and worked Burns.

@- SlainedbySlaine - Burns went for a couple of takedowns early in round 3 that cost him that round. He was completely gassed for a minute after that and Chimaev got some good combos in. Chimaev is not an elite level boxer, but is very well rounded

My god that second round is legendary and Gilbert won r2&3 in my eyes. Khamzat's hype and starpower is ultimately what got his hand raised by the judges in my opinion. Gilbert did that to Khamzat who before this fight MAULED everybody and literally only got hit 2 times in all his UFC fights MYGOD Gilbert is gonna destroy Jorge Masvidal.
Lucas500k
Lucas500k 2 ай бұрын
and what was the UFC tryna do except get Nate Diaz MURDERED by Khamzat ? they were tryna ruin his stock and have his starpower take a hit because he didn't wanna resign to the UFC. I think after all the backlash from the fans they realized it was a terrible look to do that to Nate and had Khamzat miss weight on purpose to switch the fights around and have Nate fight Tony instead.

Gilbert called khamzat a clown for missing weight with nate. Khamzat told some story about Gilbert's son which Gilbert said was a complete lie.
