I really like Merab. I feel bad for him when they make him fight Umar as soon as he won the title, three months. And he was really bullied and mocked by everyone. They fought with an incredible pace. The only difference maker was Merab's unlimited cardio, Umar was toe 2 toe with Merab's grappling in the first 2 rounds until he ran out of gas in the 3rd round. Then it was Merab's show onwards. Easily a FOTY contender. One of the best grappling matches i've ever seen. Merab is a cardio monster.

I was sitting next to a Georgian at the bar last night while Merab was fighting and this dude was doing some crazy praying the ENTIRE time, swear to God he willed Merab to victory single handedly. Really was eye opening as to just how important this sport is for some people and how many others were probably out there doing the same thing while Merab was fighting. Genuinely believe he might not even be on gear anymore, bro might just be fueled by the power of his people on some Goku summoning energy for the Spirit Bomb type shit

That phone call from Topuria the day before the fight really lit the fire in Dvalishvili, I think. From one champion to another telling him to "eat" his opponent when many were counting him out, it was something special. Not to take anything away from Dvalishvili, but if you listen to that call you know it was the right message from the right person at the right time. Outstanding performance by the champion...and still.

I watched that lying in bed at 5am. Sweating!! Was so exciting. What a fight. Throwing Umar to the ground, just unstoppable dominance . He didn't even sit down between rounds, how disheartening to see that as an opponent! Wonderful interview sheer joy.

Despite being old, bullied and doubted by the whole world, he smashed. When he said he was working a normal job and didn’t get basically bred to fight I felt that. I was also fighter but didn’t have the guidance and support like khabibs camp does at birth. People like this deserve the world. I hope merab takes some breaks because he’s grinding very hard. UFC looks to grind people down. Even a machine needs some TLC. Dominates in a 2:1 underdog. Says other fighters are the greatest not him. WOW. One of the most amazing fights I’ve seen. Definitely one of the most humble. Amazed at his English too.
