Gotta give it to both of them (obviously Nate won no doubt about it) but that is one of the greatest fights I’ve ever seen and may ever see. All the build up to it, I remember just being absolutely shocked seeing Connor get laid into like that seemingly out of nowhere, stupidly I thought he had this fight in the bag to start, even going into it, but wow I think me and a lot of other people were very wrong. Both champions in the fighting world, doesn’t matter how long your reign is, it’s what you do in it.

Hats off to both of them, absolute athletes gave us all one of the greatest fights of all time and they really went for it.

7 years later watching this and it's still the best night UFC has ever had. Conor kept saying "inefficient with his energy" over and over. Indeed that was a problem for him in this fight. The most important thing tho was he hit Diaz with some bombs that KO all the guys in his weight class leading up to this fight. Nate is a bruiser tho and his boxing skills really paid dividends. Those check hooks and jab may not look like much, but those are what decided the fight. Doesn't take many lbs. per square inch blows to the jaw line to send anyone nighty night. Conor got schooled after this fight by some smart people. Take out the front leg with kicks. One of the few nights the hype exceeded the fights.

Came back to this in honor of nates time in the UFC. The guy is an absolute warrior, I don't know if he even feels pain in his face I can't say for sure but the guy is almost genuinely unfinishable. The doctors have to step in and say 'mate, your face is gonna fall off if you carry on. I'm stopping it.' Connor was absolutely at his peak at this point, he hit nate hard, accurate, and thought he would put him away. Man should've done his research... You don't just put nate away. What a fucking fight he was. Cheers for all the entertaining fights nate, you were a real one.

Nate is all stamina. You can punch his face over and over and your arm will get tired before his face does. Its pretty terrifying- imagine punching someone in the face like 100 times and not only do they not take any real damage but it makes them stronger and more aggressive.

Nate's win sent out nuclear ripples throughout the MMA world. Everyone felt the ground underneath their feet shift. MMA world was never the same again after this match.

This had to be such a mind fuck for Connor. "WTF happened? The heavy bag I was wailing on suddenly grew arms and choked me out." Such a tough style matchup. Fighting a guy who, in my opinion, can't be knocked out. And you can't go to the ground to finish him because he's the best wrestler in the sport. You're only choice is to try and last 5 rounds and win 3 of them which, for a guy who fights like Connor, is incredibly hard to do.

I wonder what was going through McGregor's mind when he put everything he had into some of those lefts, caught Diaz clean, and then dude didn't even blink. Must be what facing down a zombie would feel like.

Dude you could tell Connor wasn't ready for how resilient Nate was. Connors striking at the start was so good and dude had won 15 straight fights and 17 of 19 were knockouts. Clearly he was expecting to just go in there and finish him like he did all his other fights. But Nate just ate everything he threw at him and you could just see it set in, Connor was just exhausted and in awe at how Nate was still standing. It's like he stopped defending himself snd let Nate keep throwing those small jabs at him and then Nate landed a huge combo and stumbled him. After that he just kept the pressure and Connor was just too overwhelmed. He even started smearing all his blood on Connor on top of it all just further discombobulating Connor. One of the best fights ever
