For me, despite loving both fighters, Dariush needs to win this to make lightweight interesting. Almost no other interesting matchups for Islam if Charles wins.

I really hope that is how this goes. I think the Volk fight will help take some of the Khabib 2.0 mystique away. Islam not being able to dominate a 45er in wrestling has to help Beneil's confidence.

@@mmapicker Islam‘s stand up is massively overrated due to the Tibau KO which has literally been his only standing TKO/KO in the ufc. He had to panic wrestle against Volk while having an insane reach advantage. Beneil constantly finishes people on the feet. If he keeps it standing (which is likely by judging his elite TDD against Gamrot) he will have the advantage on the feet

I do not think so. Darush does not belong to top 5. His best win was Tony via laying on him. He has so low fight IQ that he got caught by Barbosa by a knee for making the same mistake again and again. He is nowhere near beating Charles unless Charles comes injured.

Aldana vs Nunes could end up with a finish and be kinda entertaining too, but obviously it's not anywhere as good as this fight, obviously they're not gonna put a #1 contender fight above a championship fight, it would devalue the belt, the real problem with this card is that there's like 1 or 2 good fights outside of Main and Co-Main, it's not worth 80$ in any shape or form
