I would think CTE would be more likely to happen in a traditional fight in which people are punched hundreds of times before being knocked out. These guy don’t even spar. 🤷‍♂️

@@matthewjohnston1400 incorrect. Because in a traditional fight, combatants can at least brace for the blow, attempt to defend, or ride with the shot a bit if they see it coming. I won't pretend CTE isn't a problem in traditional combat sports, but an activity where participants are actively discouraged from blocking at all and have to take full force shots right to the dome without defending, and being penalized if they do flinch, is MUCH more likely to cause CTE.

Most of those will not land anywhere near as clean as these shots in the slap competitions or as hard, and a good chunk of those are gonna hit the midsection, shoulders, arms, gloves etc.

In America we complain about slap contests but it was huge as hell in Russia and always has been. It’s a dumb sport but people didn’t complain until Dana did it. I could see him lying about numbers or saying it outpaced other sports but it always existed even though it wasn’t done in America
