In many cases being a poor sport gets you suspended by the school, the NCAA, or the NCWA. Nobody wants to play with a sour attitude person. That's why Terrell Owens wasn't picked back up by the NFL.

She’d definitely be more loved if she had handled it better. Eg Anderson Silva had been on top of he middleweight division for a while (like Ronda with the W. Bantamweight division), he then took some losses but because he handled it respectfully he’s still loved and seen as a pioneer. If Ronda had done the same and handled it better she would be more popular in the MMA community.

Christopher McMillan I totally agree with you, she does think she’s amazing, better than every other woman when she isn’t. Sore loser, sitting crying her eyes out saying she’s suicidal because a better woman beat her. She thinks she’s a genius who revolutionised feminism or something. She thinks she’s hilarious and she’s so boring, unfunny and in love with herself.

When Ronda was winning, people's opinion about Ronda was so different. And now. Nobody likes to attach themselves to people who have lost. Like she's achieved more than you guys could ever do. She doesn't need to prove anything anymore to anybody. And yeah her jokes aren't funny but atleast she's speaking frankly rather than faking it
@KCwalksabout
@KCwalksabout 4 жыл бұрын
@Christopher McMillan I don't think she had a chance though. Her Mom is an outright crazy person; I remember hearing her interviewed when Ronda was doing well and everyone being like 'wow, what an amazing Mom!' when she was telling them stories that basically sounded like child abuse... in some ways it made her train hard and be focused and all the rest of it but it clearly did a ridiculous number on her mentally. That early massive success in MMA combined with bad advice from a trainer who lots of people have since said was deluded as well, lots of blown smoke from the entourage who told her all her mistakes were the best thing ever and who all wanted to make money off of her and I reckon she got trapped in a totally deluded head space. She was a total dick to the people she fought but again I don't think she had any chance of being balanced and realistic about things; her Mom basically indoctrinated her that these people were trying to steal her whole self-worth and reason for existence. She went through all of that as a kid and the Olympics where I'm sure she didn't feel like she'd done what she wanted to and then MMA came along and she felt like a goddess defeating all comers. That must have been quite a fall and she was in no way mentally capable of dealing with that in a healthy way.

@@boobierubi8567 -Khabib never suffered a lost - Chael never even lost a round, let alone lost a fight But these 2 guys are an exception (in Khabib's case, things can still change). I guess its Ronda not owning up after her L despite all the thrash talk she did when she was still undefeated. Conor was willing to aknowledge his L against Diaz, give credit were it is due and come out a better fighter as a result, Ronda's "woe is me" response to the lost after all she said prior, made her an easy target for the fans. But I do agree that its time to let the Rousey hate fade, her personality was instrumental in making WMMA grow to what it is after all.

Women don’t like that she’s portrayed female athletes like that. She didn’t do anything. Gina and Cris set the foundations, but say what you want about her actual fighting talent and attitude, Ronda brought women's mma to a height where it had never been before. @@pharaon3251 What annoys me most about comments like this is all the disrespect and ignorance it shows towards female MMA fighters generally. Miesha Tate was Strikeforce champion with a record of 14/2 when she went into the first Rousey fight with a strong history in collegiate wrestling. Kaufman had a record of 16/2 when she fought Rousey and isn’t a bad striker either. Davis had a record of 16/4. Julia Budd is currently 12/2, and reigning Bellator champion. McMann is a great athlete and was herself an Olympic wrestler. Zingano bet out all the competition in front of her including Tate and now UFC champion Nunes going into the Rousey fight. I’d argue, with the exception of Cyborg, Rousey fought the best competition available to her at the time and finished them all in impressive fashion. Yes, at times Rousey was bombastic and talked a ridiculous game due to the desire to promote and make a name for herself. McGregor and Rousey adopted that approach early and remain the biggest two cross-over names in the sport because of it. I understand in MMA Rousey will always be a polarizing figure; however, don’t let your hatred cloud your judgement. Respect all the female MMA fighters who get punched in the face for a living to provide you with some entertainment on Saturday nights whilst you sit at home on your fat ass stuffing chips into your pie hole. Have a nice day. :-)

@Smith Y A fighter can only compete against the opponents available to compete against. It's not Rousey's fault she rose to prominence at a time when WMMA was less popular and unappealing to more talented fighters. She coulda done more for the sport if when she lost she actually spoke but instead she ran away and hid in the shadows. What kind of role model is that? In that brief window of time between 2013 and 2015, Ronda's meteoric rise was truly unforgettable. Her success in the UFC, somehow, like no one else's ever had, seemed to transcend the Octagon, or athletics in general. There was something destined about her success. About the woman herself - she was pure, she was certain, she was golden. In those days each fight camp seemed to add a new layer to her incredible base. And, as a male fan of the sport, I can honestly say, for those few years, I was more psyched to see her fight than even the likes of Anderson. It's easy to see now how that purity of character also meant a certain rigidity, immaturity. In hindsight it's easy to pinpoint where her lesser self snapped under the pressure of fighting, marketing, and keeping the brand that was Ronda. The way I see it, her astral projection couldn't sustain on shaky foundations. Athletically, with better training, I still feel Ronda would dominate - because her one area of dominance is so pronounced. But she seems completely happy not fighting. I guess I should be happy for her, but, as a fan with no other love than for MMA, this sense of unfinished business lingers. I wish she kept on fighting.
