But all of them have issues outside of getting punched that may hinder how they speak. Gathje has a tear in his lip, nate is always high and has a lisp, and chuck is kinda old and he used to drink and smoke a lot.

You can sign a multi fight contract but you aren't forced to complete it. I assume he took the 8 fight deal, as the then Champion, with the intention of 'probably not' finishing it, he might retire before that. I do know that the bigger (longer) the fight contract is, the more money you get upfront. Max Hollaway also took an 8 fight deal before he lost the belt to Alex. Moral of the story, always sign long contracts WHILE you're the Champ for maximum payouts.
