I think there is a chance Sterling could of stayed in it but in that split second while he gave up his back he was still not really defending and he was probably just gonna continue to get beat up. Had the fight not been stopped at that moment I believe Sean would have taken the back, was right there, and Aljo was definitely rocked. Sean would of rear naked choked him in the next 10 seconds

The way Aljamain handles the loss immediately after getting finished was as impressive as Sean's performance. He never said a word about early stoppage or called for a rematch right the and there. Compare this to the Bobby Greene vs Jalin Turner stoppage. This was very early. Sterling hadn't given up, and most of the shots are not even landing. This is why late stoppages are better than early stoppages. More conclusive.

Now, I think referees need to wait until the fighter covers up and stops scrambling, like Bobby Green did vs Jalin Turner. Fights should no longer be stopped while there is a scramble or a clinch. Force fighters to learn how to finish hurt opponents.

That sequence and camera angle was crazy. You can see Aljo getting over extended and leaning forward and his eyes tracking o'Malley's cross coming in. Aljo saw it coming but because he had over extended his feet were flat and planted. That slow motion was one of the best "make them miss and make them pay" I've ever seen, it truly is a game of inches.

They both kept it very real in their post fight interviews. Sean saying he was crazy nervous. Aljo saying they tried to prepare for his style, but he was better than the people they brought in.

It's not only the way he moves and pivots on that punch that he delivered it's the way he moves and pivots on his ground and pound and Dude was working to stay in the fight but O'malley kept putting it on him and landed too many unanswered punches I totally 100 freaking percent agree with that stoppage great stoppage

Kudos to Sterling for being a class act in defeat and kudos to O’Malley admitting he was the most nervous he’d ever been for any fight. You could see it when he was walking out. He got through the nerves and now he’s the world champion. Congrats SuGa Sean.
