I remember hearing about him back in 2000 when I was in sixth grade. He was featured on a UPN 13 News segment. He was demonstrating his spinning scissor hook sweep! I was like this is some real Bruce Lee shitt! He really is one of the best ever and can you imagine if he entered MMA in his actual Prime when he was on top of the kickboxing and Sanda world!?!

sanshou/sanda is so underused in mma today... it has huge potential, it basically fills up most of the stand up game there is. get yourself some grappling training and you're set.

Even tho Cung is late for the MMA game and never capture that UFC title, I love how he has inspired a whole generation to use spinning techniques. back in that day, all the mma experts include Joe Rogan said these kind of techniques dont work in mma, but he proved the opposite

@@maribaby4741 lol no. Cung wasn't a big star in movies. If he was like the rock and he goes to mma then sure. that's a big deal that makes headlines and brings viewers. I wouldn't really call cung successful in movies.

I'm Chinese and its a shame that we have very few people are dedicated into our own martial arts like Cung Le( knowing he is from Vietnam). It's always about making profits and set up fights instead of systematic training and doing the hard work, which is the main reason we don't have a world class fighter to stand in the octagon. I smiled when our SanDa champion lost to Cung Le in the international San Da competition, knowing our man is clearly out of shape and lack of skill. What a slap in the face... Yet ten years after Le is still good and we still don't have a good fighter. Lol.

Also maybe because lot of Chinese people prefer/believe more in traditional styles ... But I'm not that sure since many Kung Fu school in Shaolin trains in Sanda, right ? And those students train since they are very young. Plus MMA competitors make lot of money, it doesn't make sense to me why so few chinese people are represented in MMA competitions ... Could you tell me what you think of that ?

+OcelotDad: Have to give the edge to Cung Le. More aggressive and precise with his striking than Machida and physically stronger as well. Also better defense and able to strikes to the head, midsection, and lower regions than Machida as well. However, it would be an excellent fight to watch and would greatly represent the 2 most underrated fighting styles in MMA.

cung le demonstrate how to do spinning moves the right way. they always have to be timed and used in the right situation. also you always need to throw a move before and after the spinning move to make it effective.

so what he's saying is it's not a spinning back fist but rather a spinning hammer fist and a spinning side thrust.. or spinning wheel kick and that last one is actually a spinning hook kick... whatever he calls them he has them down very smooth and very effective but wait what happened to his other signature move... The flying leg scissor?

I believe in order for cung to win he needs to pick his shots carefully against bisping and keep him at distance with his kicks all day cause he doesn't want to trade with bisping..and when he's rock finish bisping.

+NateTheItalianStallion at the higher levels nothing should just work by itself without a good set up, think of a chess master he is thinking several moves down the road otherwise he'd lose or just be too obvious and be countered too easily.
