Met Renzo at Mandalay Bay, Shamrock vs Kimo. Told him I knew and surfed with cousin Rickson, and was immediately ushered into his group of GJJ/MMA fighters. Very cool, indeed.

I would say that one of the worst aspects of fight gyms (from someone who did muay thai and boxing) is that a lot of trainers concentrate only on the good students.. Some even concentrate only on the hot women.. They don't really bother to teach the guys who aren't very good. This makes the weaker students give up after awhile since they aren't really learning anything.

@@caspar_gomez I was fine because I actually really liked fighting so I'd do my research and do my own training, took classes seriously etc.. but you can't expect everyone who walks into your class to have watched a lot of boxing / UFC before they entered

They seem like good people. I'm older now & have way too many physical issues to go any further with my training but I wish I could have trained under the likes of these guys. Much respect.

Renzo understands business. It's a relationship, where it has to be win-win for not only the owner, but also the trainers and the customer. My gym is not like this, the trainers get very little money from personal training and the rates are so high, no one can afford it. Only the owner wants to win. He should be taking $5-10 per hour and have the gym full at irregular hours, and allow his trainers to earn a living. As a result, there is no personal training and he earns nothing, and when people come to the gym, it's empty. And yeah, I do my personal training somewhere else. Some business owners are too greedy for their own good.

I went to Renzo's for a couple of years over in Manhattan. He was great and so were his nephews but it tends to be very clickish there specifically with the muay thai instructors, but i guess everyone's experience is different.

LOL! He has been in the US for a long time but he hasn't lost the Brazilian in him, his english got really good but you can still see some tincture of the accent and he even say porra instead of fuck 0:47 which made laugh hard cause i do that all the time when i speak English, Renzo is awesome

Gracie jujitsu is still great. But 10 planet is where you learn grappling fundamentals specifically for MMA.

@@m.u.b.u4l50 bro come on you don't make sense. I have no problem with the 10p system it's a good system but to say it's best for MMA is incorrect. 10p is just a no gi system. Every BJJ school in the world trains no gi and 10p isn't even the best no gi team in comp BJJ. There's so many Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and non 10p BJJ guys in the top MMA promotions it's ridiculous. Name 3 of the top 10p MMA fighters minus Tony Ferguson

Specifically created a ground grappling system designed for MMA. Marlon vera, kelvin gastulem, joe rogan for starters. BJJ doesnt even implement takedown techniques on a regular. 10th planet does

So, basically he sees ppl doing huge mistakes with schools, because he met an apolon of 6,5 and 280 lean and muscular? Not going now into biggest freaks of bodybuilding ever have this weight , but he saw huuuge mistakes from the fact the guy sad "when I came for the first time it was uncomftorable" ? So he changed all he had for white belts so they can be comftorable.

If people are getting their ass kicked on day 1, they probably won't come back. I've seen it at my gym. You don't throw newbies into the shark tank. Sure, the ones that survive will go far, but your business won't.
