That was very smart from Mike when he had to choose. Had he chosen the prospects the vets he already had at 155 would have lost heart and thought that Mike was stuck with them rather than him actually believing in them. By choosing the vets even when he had the choice he showed he believes in them, and that will be the starting point to lighting the fire underneath them.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Chandler has an innate ability to inspire others. Conor is too self-absorbed to be an effective leader towards others. His actions have inspired many but his personality is not leadership orientated. That's my opinion. I think even Conor respects Chandler as a leader. Leadership though is not an 'accomplishment', it's merely a role, just like being the 'worker' or the 'visionary'. All roles which are intrinsic to us depending on whom we are with and the situation at hand.

I hope McGregor team wins, there’s pros and cons with coaching vets, but the easy thing about the prospects it’s that they are coachable, unlike most vets, their egos might get in the way.

As someone who trains MMA and BJJ, I will say that it's not the vets who have the ego. That ego has usually long been defeated. It's young guys who haven't learned to shed the ego. That's a hard skill to learn and it takes time. You've got it backwards.
