They talked about it a little bit near the end but one crazy thing about Poirier is how he rolls with punches and blocks with his arms and shoulders. He used that rolling technique against Hollaway and between rounds Hollaway kept telling his corner that Poirier "keeps blocking weird" 😂😂 it works though. When you are fighting a clinch boxer like Gaethje, it could make a huge difference.

DP isn't a true southpaw as he is right handed. That's why he switches stances so fluidly and why he carries so much power in both hands. JG has evolved so much, but so has Dustin. Gonna be a banger. I think DP takes it
@QenaitheCustodianGuard Жыл бұрын
Southpaw and orthodox is only in reference to forward foot and not handedness, Tony Ferguson is Left-handed but fights orthodox, as it lends power to his lead hand. Hand dominance has nothing to do with forward foot. Southpaw historically can also mean just someone who is left-handed unrelated to combat sports.

@@QenaitheCustodianGuardmaybe but when I first started boxing a trainer asked me which was my dominant hand and really only wanted me in that stance at all times

@@nadjackson9079 yes that is the traditional way of course, power in your backhand, but conforming is lazy and boring imo. Do whatever you want tbh. I personally would stand southpaw regardless as it is not as common and gives amateurs some issues.

I'm not a huge fan of the belt, itself. But I understand they need something to promote the PPV. It would have been better for the reward to have been a big 5 foot trophy like the huge trophies from back in the day with Pride. That way you can honor the fighters, commemorate the event and even do it yearly and have the fans vote on who fights the BMF match every year. Fighters who are voted the most should fight each other. Granted within a reasonable weight class differences and it would make for some interesting match ups we might not otherwise see. Winner gets that one of a kind trophy, because its the only one given out that year, and they get a big pay day.
@KM-iv9xy Жыл бұрын

Dustin has evolved tremendously since most of the fights they showed for this breakdown. Are those fights irrelevant? No. Analyst is simply pointing out the tactics and skills these two fighters have always had in their professional careers. Through their evolution, they remain the same fighter. DP will always have a a technical boxing base. JG will always prefer dirty boxing and will always have devastating leg kicks. These fights highlight their strengths. Maybe they will have new wrinkles to their games, but they will both have the same basic strengths.

The table talk, I have no problem with... The build up; man vs man I am down for, but bringing in family I am not really a fan of...
