For the first time since they shared the Octagon in November 1993, we bring together the fighters from UFC 1 to sit down and break bread while they look back on the incredible night that launched the sport of Mixed Martial Arts. Separated by three decades but bonded forever by a unique brotherhood, Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, Gerard Gordeau, Taylor Wily, Zane Frazier, and Art Jimmerson reminisce, debate and reflect on their unforgettable experience.

I know someone who had an amateur boxing match. He was knocked down in the first minute or so of the match. He wasn't really hurt but the ref stopped the fight as it was amateur and for charity (Cops vs. Fireman). He was very disappointed. I feel like he was triumphant. He signed up, trained, got into the ring, and put it on the line. In real life and in competition, anything can happen. Winners are the guys that participated!

Not going to lie, I teared up at the end. I was in South America living, breathing and helping teach Shotokan karate, saw UFC 1 and immediately quit and enrolled at a grappling/jits combo school and bought every ufc (mostly bootleg) through the first 100. It's still my main sport to follow--but nothing compares to those first 100.

@@JoseHernandez-ij4yp Every true MMA fans knows about the King of the Streets. Though I will say, I think Frank Shamrock was the first true hybrid fighter in the UFC. I remember first time seeing the ufc was when my karate school I went to ordered the UFC 6 ppv which had Shamrock and Severn as the super fight plus the tournament before. I fell in love with it immediately. I had to be like 7-8 years old watching with the adult class because my dad went and brought me along. I remember a few days later we went to a movie rental store and had my dad rent all the ufc event tapes that they had and spent the next few days watching together. Man, I’ve been hooked ever since. It’s so nice to see these guys healthy and happy today. It’s great to see how respectful they are to one another, but you can still see the level of competition in their eyes and in roasting each other in the friendliest of ways. So glad ufc is paying respects to these guys that paved the way for todays fighters. I really feel like these fellows and all the guys probably from the first 7 years especially deserve far for credit and recognition for what they did. Watching this is like watching marvel heroes. The UFC 1, 2 made a impact on me as a kid so this is great, they should keep making it like a series.

UFC needs to do these roundtables more. The early UFC fighters were the epitome of warriors who fought for glory.

It is an honor to have seen this thing almost a week after if happened. It was so hard to get, and the local TV actually had the decency of showing this to me, and I immediately learned any martial arts available, to build up my fighting style. THANK YOU UFC 1!!

This was incredible. Time truly flies. Seems like yesterday for us first gen MMA fans/NHB fans. They didn't just change things, they encouraged many of us who were current martial artists then to take up other disciplines like Gracie Jiu Jitsu. I don't think younger folks and esp fighters realize how awesome they have it now being able to train so easily in multiple disciplines at a high level pretty much anywhere in the world with quality instruction.

In the netherlands he and his brothers nico and Al (also a big name fighter) were heavily involved with the hells angels. I only ever met gerard and nico, but they were very untrustworthy. They did nice to us because our trainer knew them well, but they are/were stone cold criminals
