@@1987benhur You know, I totally agree with you. Cat Zingano is the kind of fighter that gives you a slow burn. The longer the fight goes Cat gains momentum and the ugliness ensues. Look at what she did to Tate and Nunes. That was just a tactical error that night. She had the skills to win that fight, for sure.

Despite her accomplishments in the octagon, she still took her ball and ran home when she wasn't queen of the throne anymore. That unsportsmanlike bullshit will always keep her out of the all time greats for me personally. You can't have your cake and eat it too when you act the way she did.

Doubt Valentina could beat this bigger version of Peña. Santos controlled her in the last fight and Peña took her down easily in their 1st fight.

@@1987benhur What do you mean "bigger version"? If anything's changed since their fight, it's that Shevchenko got even better on the ground while Peña had to deal with injuries and a pregnacy. She hasn't made nearly as much progress.

@@claude5945 Those are the same reasons why Peña would have more success against Valentina this time. She already proved that she can control Valentina so in the future it would just be cleaning up mistakes to seal the win. Shevchenko would need to beef up more imo to help her defend those td. Remember that all these grapplers dont really need to do much on the ground to win a fight which sucks but until they adjust the rules to avoid this, its gonna keep happening.

4:20 - Mike Goldberg was saying it before I did, and I know he didn’t backpedal on it. Rousey’s title defense against Miesha Tate in the UFC was her first true title defense. Listen to what Goldberg said starting at 4:21 and ending at 4:25. • Despite Dana giving her the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title before that division’s inaugural title fight between Rousey and Liz Carmouche, Ronda didn’t earn the belt until she submitted Liz; and she wasn’t truly the champ until she beat Miesha Tate for the second time in her career. • You’re entitled to disagree, but I tagged the receipts.

Despite all the hate Ronda gets, its hard not to disagree with this. Ronda's Judo is exquisite; she's super slick and dangerous on the ground. I'd actually love to see a grappling match (not MMA) between her and Nunes who is also an excellent grappler when she's fresh.

4:08 - Big fucking deal! Rousey refused to touch gloves or shake hands with most of her opponents, especially when she was in Strikeforce. Go review those fights on UFC Fight Pass if you haven’t already; it’s not bullshit, and it’s not that damn serious. • Also, if you watched what happened between Rousey and Tate, and their camps, during TUF 18, you’d get a better understanding of why Rousey refused to shake hands with Tate. I don’t blame her for it, and Tate can stay well wrecked in that regard.

8:49 - That loss sucked for Zingano. I loved watching her beat the brakes off of Miesha Tate after Tate rubbed her face in the mat after one of the previous rounds ended in their fight; it was tremendous. • Now between her and Rousey, this was quick and respectful. Say what you want about Rousey; unlike Tate, Rousey never broke a rule in a single one of her fights, nor did she blatantly go after or cheap shot her opponents after the round ended.

Honestly Ronda has all the skill set she needed to defeat Holm or Nunes. I just don’t how she prepared those fights. Her arrogance might have played her. She just didn’t have the heart to come back. That’s why the fight against Nunes was so bad

The Holm's one is infamous for the coach (or trainer, not sure of his official role). He got exposed as a fake and a liar. He convinced Ronda to try to stand and box with Holly, instead of playing it her way. By the time she had tried to toss Holly, she had been scrambled and didn't have the energy or strength to pull it off. Then Holly kicked her square in the head

Peña’s submission on Nunes was a huge upset of a fight, but the choke itself was sloppy and only effective because Nunes was gassed and looking for a way out.

Yeah she doesn't do well when things don't go her way. I think she had never been properly taught to lose and can't handle it. If you raise your kids to be combatants, you gotta humble them once in a while to temper their ego. Ronda's only got more and more inflated

As for “notoriously difficult to knock out,”@@bwestacado9643, I’m pretty sure Cat Zingano TKO’d Tate in their 2012 UFC fight. • Tate also had two TKO losses in her fourth and fifth pro fights. She also has two KO losses, one each from Kaitlin Young and Sarah Oriza respectively. • I almost forgot her most recent TKO loss by punches from Marion Reneau back in 2021. This is all from Tate’s fight record, by the way.
