Man time really does fly by 😢 I remember this era of UFC like it was yesterday. Silva’s run as champ was truly amazing and too easily brushed aside. I don’t think we’ve seen a champion that dominated with such ease as Anderson did. Aside from a few lack luster performances, he really looked like a magician in there.

The present day UFC mainly promotes hype trains because they don't have a lot of really talented fighters competing anymore. The UFC now promotes interim belt holders as if they were five time defending UFC champions or something. The present mma fan base is mainly made up of casuals though, and they get on board any hype train. So, the UFC has to do what it has to do.

They promote interim belt holder 15 and 3 Tom Aspinall as if he was a five time defending champion when he's only had one high level fight against an out of prime Andrei Arlovski. Then they promote guys like Khamzat as if he was a five time defending champion. I could go on and on. They're regularly comparing new prospects to former high level champions these days while the casual mma media outlets promote them.
