Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva goes back in time to talk about some of his biggest moments and historic victories inside the Octagon. He hopes to add another memorable chapter vs. Nick Diaz at UFC 183.

It’s the UFC. Every fighter is a good fight in their own way. Silva was just good enough to figure them all out. It was really a cool thing to watch him in his prime.

Silva is a great example of a champion with class. He doesn't need to do his talking outside of the octagon because his fighting speaks volumes.

Might I remind you of the Anderson Silva vs Demian Maia where Silva taunted, showboated, and joked around for five rounds against Maia. He showed absolute disrespect and disdain towards his opponent. The whole crowd ended up booing Silva even though he won an easy decision. Silva is surely a champion with class, right?

backseatdog May I remind you that damian started it by saying Im gonna take the spider his arm to home with me. Anderson was very offended by that
@Wiizardii10 жыл бұрын
backseatdog Oh come on, its only one thing, and that was his only disrespectful move. If you look at guys like Jones and what he said to DC, it is nothing compared to Silva. It was natural for Silva to grow a strong ego and arrogance + some anger, give him a break. I won't say it was something good, it was very rude of silva and obviously VERY disrespectful, but it is one of does, one of a thousand things.

If A.S isnt the best mma fighter ever, he is for sure on the top3. Its very disappointing that people dont respect him these days. Ok weidman is great, however he will never make the impact that Anderson did. Silva style of fighting was evolving in each fight. If you love mma, it was obvious that Silva wasn't doing this just for money and fame, martial arts is his life. I really love Anderson silva as a fighter, entertainer, person and proudly represented ufc and mma for the last several years.

+DjNiqueed Yeah, Silva has been super entertaining. A complete MMA fighter winning by KO and submission. I have mixed feelings about him coming back. He's about 40? I actually really enjoyed watching these old clips of Anderson Silva when he was good and I can honestly say that it's a great honour and a privilege to have him sitting directly one place below me in the GOAT list, coming in at a cool #2. I literally cannot wait to see another vintage Anderson performance on Saturday night, and I'm pretty sure he won't crumble under the pressure of coming back from that terrible injury and lose this fight and consequently slip to #3 on the GOAT list... 'cause that would really suck. Lol. Respectfully, Jonny GOAT Jones

I only just realised Anderson only speaks in the present tense and never uses the past tense: "Travis no make weight." = "Travis didn't make weight." "When Nate Marquardt take my leg." = "When Nate Marquardt took my leg." "You training hard for this position." = "You were training hard for this position." It's not a bad strategy for a second language, only use present tense and when you have to talk about something that happened in the past, just say "when..." + present tense.

What made Anderson so great was how quick his reflexes was. The guy sees punches and kicks a mile away. At one point he pissed people off for being cocky in the cage but that’s what scared most fighters besides weldmen. When he talks to the media, he’s very humble. He would have wrecked weldmen in his prime. Wasn’t a big silver fan until that Forrest fight. Guy literally slipped 3-4 punches like he knew and saw it coming, backpedals and one jab put out Forrest. Fought a guy while losing almost 5 rounds and last 30 seconds pulls off a submission win. Just amazing.

Andersen Silva is the true meaning of a warrior. He is humble in his ways and doesn't need to talk the talk. what I like most about him is that he is driven by humiliating those fake fighters who talk too much but can't back it up. My favorite MMA fighters before him were Chuck Liddell and Randy Coture. Also I have always had a lot of respect for Rich Franklin. Andersen Silva is a true warrior from the heart he is my idol in the fighting world.

Front kick KO on Vitor or Late round Head and arm triangle on Chael have to be ranked above. Forrest was so disappointing because lots of factors been knocked out in training like 3 times before the fight happened and he was simply out of his league. His only straight line to a victory was in the grappling because they are both black belts. IMO
@robbiep4756 жыл бұрын
@Get Down Im just going off what Joe Rogan said on his podcast. Forrest was training at Extreme Couture at the time and apparantly he had been knocked out several times before the Silva fight but took the fight anyways. Anderson in is prime is unbeatable. Even GSP said recently he declined a fight with Anderson. When GSP a fucking animal dont wana fuck with you, you know hes a big fucking deal. Weidman was his downfall. I still think he is gutted over that, he dominated him the first fight got cocky and paid for it, if he kept serious i think he would have beat chris. not to mention the 2nd fight he fucked up his shin. regardless, in his prime i dont think anyone could beat him, even up at 205! only person i see possibly beating anderson at 205 is Jon Jones. Heavyweight is a bit far fetched obviously. But man he could do it all. People compare him to Conor Mcgregor. But, Conor only really boxes and counter punches and has some really nice kicks. But come on Andersons head movement, footwork strikes are next level. Not to mention his kicks where more versatile and dangerous, his knees and clinches where killer. his wrestling and ground game was stunning. He was Class A at everything. Not to mention his title run, and undefeated streak. I think when you look back in History you will see, GSP, Jon Jones and Anderson Silva. unfortunately jones needs to fix his shit. he could have had loads more fights and wins and staple his name in history. But he let that down. Such a shame. And of course Mcgregor he will definitely go down in history. But this is a guy who got whipped by Diaz and got very close in the 2nd fight. 3rd fight much wanted lol.

I know what you're saying I don't mean In the grand scheme of things but just how he lost his belt to In my opinion a lesser fighter then snapped his leg trying to win it back
@aaronsarquist33828 жыл бұрын
+Will Acton not luck at all. Weidman studied Anderson a lot before fighting him. He knew he showboated, and took advantage of that. Just because Anderson hadn't been caught like that before doesn't mean to keep doing it. Anderson got too cocky and paid for it. As for the leg snap, Weidman learned how to check kicks like that from Ray Longo. Longo taught Chris to check kicks a little late, so that they would catch his knee; this was designed to hurt like hell; sometimes it can break legs, as we saw in that fight. Anderson didn't lose because he was unlucky, he exposed himself, and got knocked out which is what should've happened in that situation. Maybe Weidman isn't as good a fighter as Anderson, but he was winning both fights before he finished Anderson in both of them. Anderson may be a better fighter, but Weidman went out there and got it done on those two occasions.

Two things: 1. It's sad how people can't stand a confident man of color who can back up his words. And 2. English is his second language, you do NOT get points or props for insulting him for that. But it's understandable (to a degree mind you) that people have a racial bias towards a champion who looks more like them.

Darrius Vincent Silva's seconds language is probably a lot better than for most who make fun of him.

listen to what Anderson says.. He said that his masters told him to submit him for disrespecting his gym. That's why he let him take him down.. He even said the 2nd fight against Chael was easier because he could defeat him anyway he wanted too.

@maze525610 жыл бұрын
ChocDelight12 You should watch "Like Water". Anderson actually told Nog he wanted to finish Chael on the ground. His coaches did not want him to take the risk. Anderson did what he wanted to do but I doubt getting beat up for 4,5 rounds was part of the plan.
@TJJ3199 жыл бұрын
ChocDelight12 Are you dumb? "I let him beat me down for 5 rounds so I could barely squeak out a victory at the last minute" you believe that? You can't fix stupid.
