Two championship bouts headline UFC 187. In the main event, the vacant UFC light heavyweight championship is up for grabs as feared knockout artist Anthony “Rumble” Johnson squares off against two-time U.S. Olympian Daniel Cormier in an intriguing clash of top contenders. Plus, UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman and Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort finally throw hands in an anticipated title bout that will pit Weidman’s wrestling attack against the highlight-reel-worthy striking of Brazil’s Belfort.

People can say that the Aldo vs. McGregor Card is the best this year, but I feel with these two fights, and the rest of the fights on the main card, UFC 187 will be the best card of the year.

michigan1622 This was the best card of the year by a long shot until Jones and Khabib fell off within days of each other. Now it's still great but pales to the original those two cards have/had my 4 most anticipated fights of the year on them i hope no one else pulls out.

junkmode yep totally agree it was an amazing card until Jones and Khabib fell off, but I still feel the card is better than the Aldo vs. McGregor card. Also the prelims for UFC 187 is a lot better than most prelims, and some of the match ups are better than match ups on Fox and Fox Sports 1 main cards.

Do fighters like rumble simply possess knockout power or do they train to punch hard as shit? I see fighters like nick diaz for example who throws a high volume of punches but they aren't very hard. Is it possible to train to throw hard punches in a fight or is it and individual ability? I'm high and was just wondering.

DC needs to go to middleweight. He could easily make the cut, look at all the useless weight hes carrying now. Then he'd be a true powerhouse. The only reason not to drop is that hes to lazy to cut.

Forrest Evans he would have to change his entire lifestyle and keep his weight lower. I think DC could do it once but don't think he could keep his body weight down because of his eating habits.

I disagree. Cormier is pretty big for light heavyweight, and I don't think his cardio would hold up with natural middleweights. Jones managed to outlast him at 205. Imagine how Chris Weidman would outlast Cormier, especially if he adds 20 pounds to his current weight cut.

He wouldn't have to cut at all if he didn't let himself go after every fight. He's not even lean on the night of the fight. His cardio would improve with he weight dropped.

He wouldn't do as well at MW, he could cut down to 185 but it'd be bloody hard and he'd lose a lot of power and stamina I reckon.. Even tho he's shorter than most MW's he's got a big frame even without the excess weight. I reckon if he could walk around at 215ish lb and fought at 205lb that'd be perfect. Cut the 10lb 1 or 2 days before the fight, bugger all dehydration.

It will be interesting to see who is a stronger fighter for this weight class. Both have shown to be physically dominant fighting against most of their opponents. I think this will be tough to guess.

I have to go with Rumble, if you guys remember the Phil Davis fight, an amazing wrestler and what happened there. I think it could be very similar if not even more in Rumble's favor. This could very well be the first time DC gets stopped in a fight.

Rumble is scary good but DC has never been finished and has only lost a decision to Jones. He dominates Heavyweights that can hit as heavy as rumble do. He can absorb tremendous amounts of damage and once he gets in range he will beat you and ragdoll you. He'll eat you like a CAKE. Let's go DC!
