I get it that Yoel's mentality was "You called me out, well come meet me in the middle of the ring and lets do this war". So he stood there waiting for Izzy while Izzy was trying to bait Yoel. As soon as Izzy noticed that Yoel was not taking that bait he engaged and felt it. Izzy at that moment knew as soon as he felt that punch it was a "fuck that" moment. So Izzy did the smart thing by keeping his distance, using his distance and pretty much made it a point scoring fight. He was not even trying to bait Yoel anymore. He was not trying to counter Yoel's strikes as the main plan. He would do it if he could but, his main plan at that point was chop the legs, keep my distance. Yoel should have changed his plan at some point. Maybe turn it into a wrestling match and work the ground and pound. But I think Yoel was concerned about his cardio.

On the flip side though Romero should''ve made it dirty and pressured alot more.
@jthememeking
@jthememeking 5 жыл бұрын
Ight imma break this down for those who have zero striking experience. If someone is standing in front of you, not moving and just covering their face, the logical thing is to attack the legs and body with kicks. Especially if you're the taller fighter. Yoel's gameplan was to literally stand there and catch him with a huge overhand right. He caught Izzy with it the first round and that's when Izzy realized that's all Yoel will be doing the entire fight. So Izzy strikes from the outside If you're trying to counter with an overhand right, the way Yoel did it is not the way. You set it up with jabs, leg kicks, feints, movements. Yoel did none of this. Just waiting for the overhand Right or just bum rushing and hoping for the best. Every Striker knows that Izzy would just attack from the outside with a gameplan like Yoels Yoel was trying to make Izzy make a mistake and attack a defense shell and Izzy did the first round and didn't after.

Kicking a guys leg should not win a fight when the other gets hit hard a few times. Yoel took him down. He sprawled and ran. Fight sucked, both fighters are garbage. Izzy' s days are numbered. movie mix how the fuck did Romero win? Izzy out-struck him, stuffed three take down attempts from his supposedly god-like wrestling and controlled the ring better than Romero. Romero only chose to blitz once or twice in the latter rounds and that was it. Romero should have showed that last round aggression much earlier. Get outta here casual!
@otallono
@otallono 5 жыл бұрын
I almost understand where Izzy is coming from but he was never even close to making Yoel back up. Not once. Think about it. Yoel makes Izzy run over and over and Izzy isn't capable of doing that to Yoel. That really says a lot. And at one point Izzy said he's not going to run in to a brick wall, contradicting himself when he said Yoel is just muscle and bone like everyone else. Okay then why didn't he put him away?
@HungryLikeTheWolf70
@HungryLikeTheWolf70 5 жыл бұрын
Bryan how are you people saying Yoel made Izzy run the whole fight? Up until the fifth round Yoel did nothing but blitz him once or twice per round. Until then Israel was picking at him the whole time. Every take down attempt was stuffed and Izzy circled out back into position. Yoel should have used that aggression from the fifth way earlier.

YAPYAP THE DESTROYER I really enjoyed it. I had a lot of ‘casual’ fans at my house who thought it was boring, but I personally felt an intensity about it. Much like the Thiago Santos & Jones fight, I felt like the champ was calculated and that the challenger could end it at any moment but didn’t ultimately do enough. While some may have seen the Champs effort as boring or running away, I saw someone who didn’t fall for obvious striking traps but who also couldn’t counter if no offense came at him. You want to be the champ, you bring it and prove it.

Oh my god Yoel was just picking him apart on a psychological level! Izzy kept testing Yoel’s reaction time, and Yoel always responded with an even faster reaction time. Yoel was showing a shit ton of feints from he’s previous strikes that landed, and was memorizing Izzy’s reactions. You could just tell that Yoel was storing that info to use in one finishing attack! But the opportunity never came because Yoel hasn’t ever fought anyone with a reaction time as fast as Izzy’s. And Yoel was able to memorize Izzy’s attacks and frequently demonstrated he able to dodge them, then feint a counter. To me this was a fucking amazing fight. Two fighters with insane fight IQ. In my opinion, Yoel dominated the center of the cage and the fight therefore. It is true he didn’t chase after Adesanya, but that because it seems evident to me that him being in his 40s wouldn’t chase after a young and more scared kid who didn’t know/want to engage in the fight after he felt Yoel’s punch during the first round. Dude, the guy, Adesanya, really looked scared at that moment when Yoel bulled onto him and screaming lol Also remember Adesanya asked for Yoel, he challenged Yoel and Adesanya holds the belt, he should’ve given and proposed a better fight.

If you look closely to history, yoels ancestors came from the same region. It’s crazy. Of course some ignorant people in the comments would play it down, because they are low key racist and hate Israel. Next time a European fighter wins like Izzy and someone says, that it is because his ancestors are used to stay in the cave, I am pretty sure they will expose their double standards and say it was racism or even reverse racism (what ever terms they invent for that).

Tha Outlaw Pugilist Izzy was at range sniping leg kicks and winning the fight. Romero was losing from a distance and standing still as a rock. It’s on Romero to make SOME type of effort to win the fight. Both are to blame, but Romero deserves way more shit than he’s getting. The dude wasn’t throwing shit. Izzy was leading the entire fight. If you’re Izzy and you’re WINNING the fight comfortably and not taking damage, why the fuck would you want to put yourself in a compromising situation? This is the same thing that happened to Rockhold and Weidman, they got impatient and basically let Romero knock them out. Romero was LOSING the entire fight and he just never put in any sort of effort into leading. You can’t just stand still for four rounds and then act mad about it in the last 30 seconds of the fight and the post fight interview. It’s on the person who is losing the fight to make some type of effort to win. I know everyone loves Romero but it’s time we stop giving him free passes, between stoolgate, testing positive for a SARM, etc. He seems very deceptive in getting a fight the way he wants it to be, and when it doesn’t go that way he throws a fit.
