I think he realized he can't keep the act for long (just like how Covington did and now does not benefit from it after big defeats). You can see that most of his persona (except the confidence in his skills) was made for the crowd. His moments of defeat shows that he is a sportsman. Unlike Covington's or O'Malley when they experienced defeat immediately trying to get out. Sure after the fight and upon leaving the octagon Conor has to make up excuses that are certainlg crazy but that is also part of the game. And just like most fighters he gets into trouble for being stupid from fame and success. But I also don't think he can play GSP-level of natural humility. Pride in his skill is what keeps him going. But I would miss his banters now that he seems to be showing more humility.

This is a great interview. Megan is a really great interviewer and to jump on the mentioned “motivated Conor” bandwagon, I enjoy listening to him talk, when he’s like this. It’s a weird thing to say and I know it sounds crazy, but I think THIS Conor is actually underrated, as a person and a fighter. I’m looking forward to seeing this fight.
