@A Z He had no choice too, his grappling/ground game is no where charles level. His plan was perfect, charles just too good at what he does. He was only meant to defend charles jiu jitsu and get up but once he realised how good oliveria was (better than he fought), he was too scared too even defend and charles sensed that, so he went back to grappling straight away and got the finish. I knew dustin was gonna lose, when in the second rd when he hugged onto charles for dear life on the ground, looked like he was drowing in the middle of the ocean lool. Instead of trying to get up and go back to striking. Pretty obvious all charles had to do at that point was put him back in that position again.

@@YOUENNNN Charles is a very very good fighter, one of the best in history, but if his next fight with Justin Gaethje goes the same way as this fight with Dustin Poirier, NO WAY IN HELL could he take 56 shots or more from Gaethje and not get knocked the fuck out. Justin has literal nukes in his hands, not to mention the wrestling and takedown defence Gaethje has, which would make it pretty hard for Charles to submit him. AND on top of all that, Justin has the deadliest kicks in UFC history, he would probably fuck Oliveira's legs up by the second round. We have to ask ourselves what do I have attached to victory, to the belt? Emotionally, what's on the line, what do i THINK it says about me?! Conversely, if I lose, what's attached emotionally to that. What does a loss in a title bout mean to me, internally? What does it say to me and about me etc etc? It's all wrapped-up in Ego, that's how I got over some significant sports setbacks. I suctioned-out only the good. (Besides, in a lot of people's heads Dustin was ALREADY the belt holder, i.e. the World's best Lightweight.) ...Look at how far The Diamond has come since he started. In every possible aspect of his life. That's WAY, way more than the perceived importance of a belt. It actually DWARFS the Lightweight Belt.

This makes me so sad. Dustin is so genuinely nice and respectful. He deserves so much and more. What an amazing heart that dude has. Your time is coming 💎💎

Respect to both guys and they've always been grinding this MMA game for awhile now. DP will be back and maybe 3rd's time a charm.

Dustin is by far the most genuine, and kind hearted fighter in the UFC. Agree inspiration to everyone that watches him and beyond with all these platforms nowadays. 🙌

Dustin is the man. I am really looking forward to how this loss will better him. I believe that if he will decide to grind again he'll be unstoppable.

True, but I really hope he won't try to do it again He already made it - time spend some time with the family and enjoy life and money he made

He's got to focus more on the ground with a champion like oliviera. He knew what oliveria was gonna do, but was still able to do it. I hope he does become a champion one day

What a gentleman! Worrior with ethic, an admirable. Impressive how aligned this man is. Love you P. You are the champion in your own way! You are a true man's man. I am a big fan of Bronx. But D.P I wish you the best .

Reminds me of Mark Martin the NASCAR driver...handles himself admirably in defeat and when things don't go as planned, and comports himself humbly when he wins.

Amazing year Dustin had, he played his cards right and got 2 massive Conor fights and ends the year with a world title fight. Nothing but respect!

Your a true champion Dustin , losing sucks but your ability to regroup and not let it define you is inspiring! It’s a big metaphor for life in any scenario! And one that I can be appreciative of! Best of luck in your comeback!
