I said that the scales were fishy during UFC 273 where most fighters were 0.5 lbs over, now at UFC 274, no fighters were under weight and most were 0.5 lbs over. Justice for Oliveira.

So, what people aren’t really mentioning is fighters weigh themselves before officials on a digital scale before proceeding to the mechanical scale. Apparently, Do Bronx weighed 155 on the digital scale, but somehow came in overweight on the mechanical scale. Kind of ridiculous-not sure why they don’t use a universal scale.

I was shocked when they announced Oliveira title's was stripped. I find it so gut-wrenching they stripped the belt away. Yeah, Gaetjhe still has the chance to win like normal; Oliveira will not get another ruby though. I feel they should have checked the scales over again. He made weight the night before and said he did not eat or drink since.

Charles is terrifying. A kid from one of the worst parts of Brazil, has made it to the UFC, lost sole fights in stunning fashion, stays in the ufc to solidify he belongs there, wins the belt and now he is no longer consider a journeymen. Nothing is intimidating Charles and his team, they look so damn ready to win or lose, nothing can beat down a true champion inside or outside the cage

Charles at the end there had murder in his eyes. It's either gonna be an early finish for Gaethje or Charles is taking him for a ride to hell. Either way this whole card is just 🔥🔥🔥. Edit: Now that the fight is over Charles literally just ran through Justin. But Justin did knock him down multiple times. It's just that all the fighters are really scared to take the fight to the ground with Chuck. Justin didn't follow up on the knockdowns even once. Kinda like what McGregor was doing in that second Diaz fight. Really insecure move by Justin. He fucked up big time.

This situation explained: The UFC/hotel scales were low on Thursday. So, come the morning of Friday, they recalibrated them to match the offical commission scales. This put Charles (and a lot of other fighters) over when they thought they were under. They let the fighters know this, but Charles claims his team was not informed. Charles then showed up last to weigh in (which suggests he was cutting to the last minute) and missed by .5 lbs. The only other fighter to miss was the one before Charles who also showed up last minute, everyone else (minus OSP) made weight with over an hour to spare.

Apparently the arizona commission didnt follow their own regulations either since fighters who miss weight are supposed to have an extra 2 hours to cut and the weigh in needs to be within 24h of the event. Maybe Charles team challenges the decision if he wins

The backstage scale that the fighters use to check their weight was off, and that’s why so many (20 out of 28) came in .5 lb over on the official sale. There should be an investigation to keep Olivera from being stripped of his title for the commission’s negligence.

Not true at all, any fight not for a title has a 1 pound allowance so its VERY common for non title fight fighters to come in anywhere from .5 to a pound over the limit. 3 of the 4 title fight fighters hit their weight on the dot, Charles did not it had nothing to do with the scale.

Keep this in mind guys: -- OVER TWENTY FIGHTERS WERE .5 OVER (edit since people are awful at reading points: being half a pound over isn't me saying they missed weight... Just that it's suspicious that they are all half a pound over as well like Charles) --- multiple fighters ALSO said that there were major scale problems in calibrations... Many even said UFC officials failed to mention calibration issues ahead of time! So some didn't even know! -- Charles had weighed in 155 on the digital scale backstage (which is what you use before the main one)... Multiple fighters vouched for this, and his team can, too.. This is such a huge punishment, and from the Evidence, IT LOOKS LIKE IT VERY WELL COULD BE A PROBLEM ON BEHALF OF THE COMMISSION OR UFC! How is it your fault if UFC official scales are inaccurate?

He can't sue them. The reference scale is considered a "courtesy" and not an obligation from the ufc/comission. His contract just says he gotta make weight on the official scale, doesn't specify how nor includes any obligation from the ufc to provide a reference scale. It's super unfortunate and personally I think there's some shady shit going on, too bad probably nothing will happen.

They also, according to the Arizona commissions code, have to have weigh ins 24 hours before the fight, not more. This was like 30 hours before. So the entire thing could be invalidated. I saw a combat sports lawyer talking about it.

Strange how oliveira had the most time to make weight and still missed the mark. he said the electronic scales read 155 , but there couldve been an issue with it . many other fighters also thought they were on weight but missed by .5. i just found it weird that in the hour he was given to shed .5, that none of it came off.

I too find it strange that his weight supposedly read virtually identically even with an extra hour. I don't know if they round it or what but the whole the things seems odd. the guy at the scale also immediately read off "155.5!" without even letting the scale rest/stop moving on the second weigh-in. usually they take a moment to counter balance it a bit. odd

I know what you mean but it actually does make sense. Literally, about his only option with only an hour to go would be to immediately to and get into a scolding not bath to start a sweat. If he thought he was on weight and stopped sweating, restarting a sweat again becomes EXTREMELY difficult to do. Especially without access to a sauna and when you've already been cutting a ton of weight. He probably tried but nothing else was. Coming off at that point.

Its funny, i actually noticed at the beginning of the weigh in that it wasnt the same person weighing them, its usually an older guy. If you notice too that when he weighs justin its done in a few seconds but when he weighed charles first time he was fucking around immeasurably and he immediately moved the pointer back and even had to ask him to get off and start again, second time too, too much fucking around and pointer goes back immediately, something's not right here? Also they immediately stripped him, no hanging aound waiting on stuff, scales, blame etc etc. I just hope Charles wins now and gets his title back in the next one.

That’s because so many fighters don’t cut to championship weight when they aren’t champions lol? When did mcgregor ever cut to 145 when he weren’t champ? He always cut to 146 as a featherweight until he made a point at a weigh in and gestured 145 with his hands. Fighters very very often cut to .5 above or a full 1lbs above because they can, it’s just safer to cut to 0.5 above. That’s not a conspiracy it’s common sense and doesn’t make sense to cut an extra 0.5.

Not saying I know about weight cutting at that level etc but I was always under the thoughts that you weight yourself in morning as your actual body weight settles etc and you get a better reading of your actual true weight! Correct me if I’m wrong guys but that’s always been my understanding on it.

The dude running the scales was up to something. His body language told all. Charles was screwed out of his belt. If people don't think stuff like this goes on, they just don't understand the world they live in.

It is impossible to get an accurate reading on a scale that is still moving. Jon Anik called it "human manipulation" and that is the best description.
