Despite the semi-long chain of accusations about holding submissions I can't help but feel sympathy for this guy. He's an incredibly skilled fighter coming from a rough background. I think the reasoning behind his 'holding' stems from insecurities, he takes it too personally when people put up any struggle. Perhaps he has something to prove, wants to make somebody proud. Whether or not that's an excuse isn't really up for debate, this type of stuff causes unnecessary injury an brings negative media towards MMA in general. I hope Palhares realizes his mistake and corrects it in the future... hopefully he'll get a second chance (knowing Dana, yeah, probably not gonna happen). Either way I wish him the best. The dudes got a sick ground game.

I think now i get it why he holds on for so long and have a hard time letting go. I really believe all the rough life he's been through and the mindset he was raised with, both by his father and his mother always telling him to never give up it's deeply engraved into his soul. In a fight, i think he just goes into auto-pilot mode. "Never give up" mode. I think what he does of course is wrong but honestly i doubt it that he is an evil person that just wants to rip knees apart. So many daddy's boy that doesn't know shit about hardwork and hunger. So many that were playing videogames while he was carrying stones as a kid.

Things we take for granted everyday, like waking up every morning in a warm and comfortable apartment with clean floors and a fridge stuffed with eggs and food ready for breakfast. This guy shared two pieces of bread with 9 other family members! Respect! Look at him now, in the UFC. Inspirational.
