I used to think this dude is kinda overhyped before the Ryan Hall fight, I didn't know him and only heard about him from hardcore MMA fans talking about how he's a total monster that's gonna destroy Ryan Hall and I was like "right, sure" and here were are, those people definitely knew what they were talking about when it comes to recognizing talent

Man that and when he destroyed Bryce Mitchell too, people don't remember Mitchell absolutely ragdolling Barboza before that fight. He knocked him out and choked him out, and people were making comparisons between Mitchell and Khabib back then. You can't count out Topuria even if it's against Volk. He's always dangerous and skilled everywhere

Most people choosing him to win are only picking him because volk got KOd in October in a weight class above coming off short notice. But that shouldn’t be the case imo, Topuria’s skill set is great. Good on the feet, good on the ground, technique, power. I think this fight will show every aspect of mma but I got Topuria winning and I agree either way it’s not going all 25.

His last fight against Islam was a one-off short notice fight, he'll be coming into this fight at his best. He said so himself in pre-fight interviews and it doesn't come across like the stereotypical 'I'm in the best shape of my life' bollocks you always hear, its genuine.

Volk literally had to fight Mendes first then fought Aldo later on Brazil to get his first title shot not even won the title with those fights, current UFC is much more difficult than Aldo's, GSP's and Jones's era. At that time they could become champ between 23-28 years old, current ufc is much more stacked its nearly impossible to be champ younger than 30 years old, so that means its nearly impossible to have record 10 title defense numbers like Aldo's or GSP's, since there isn't enough time between 30-35.

Other than Volk > Aldo , another example on Quality>quantity is Khabib > Aldo too. Khabib had to beat 4 top 10 ranked Lightweights to get his first title shot: no.10 Healy, no.6 Johnson, No.4 Barboza, no.5 RDA. While Aldo got his title shot in his first UFC fight, and GSP got his first title shot after only 2 ufc fights and he lost that fight too, it was much easier at that time in Aldo's or GSP's era.
