To be fair, the video feed didn’t show Jon sinking in the choke. My friends and I were confused too because it only switches angles right when he taps. There’s a better view of Jon sinking in the sub that they should have shown

Valentina made a ridiculous mistake and gave up her back. Obviously it was a pivotal moment in the division's history, but KO/sub of the year should be based on the technical difficulty of the performance itself, and we see submissions like that every other week.

It's probably not as technically or consequentially impressive, but I didn't think Shavkat's standing rear choke on Neal was really great. Probably more of a highlight because it was an awesome fight than on its own merits but it's the one I remember most clearly.

Remember guys its called "Sports Entertainment"...if it was just skills it'd just be the sport factor, but for the entertainment factor the element of "story", buildup etc is key. based on that i'd give this to jones BUT personally i think Davey should get this. i could see a case for either tho

It's not called "Sports Entertainment", that's WWE. The reason WWE calls itself "Sport Entertainment" is because they are "Performing", NOT COMPETING. Competing is actual Competition, not Scripted Performances with planned outcomes. There's no RANKS, judges, etc. Real Sports has no Pre-determined Winner - Basketball, Football, Soccer, Boxing, MMA, and any sport in the Olympics. All sports are for entertainment, so calling these sports "Sports Entertainment" is Redundant. The only story that matters in these performance awards, is the story IN THE FIGHT, not the build up to it. Because it's just a fuckin Guillotine on a Kickboxer with no ground game who was outwrestled by Francis - who had no ground game. You stop being Racially bias, because Jones is black..

It's insane that Alexa Grasso's RNC against Valentina and Shavkat bulldog choking Geoff Neal both didn't make the cut. Still, if it can only be top 4, I don't think I can argue with the choices. They ought to at least give some honorable mentions though. Davy Grant takes it for me. Last minute, down a point, and he hits a reverse triangle out of nowhere to put assuncao to sleep. I Haven't seen anything like that since Imada v. Masvidal.
