Yes! Very humble fighter. Even when the media was trying to get her to talk ill of Valentina and her "decline" in the sport in interviews prior to the fight... she still spoke highly about the former champ. I hope she holds the belt for a bit. Quite deserving.

I mean it was a good fight...but seeing the goat of MMA take 3 years off to wreck gane in 2 mins was pretty great. Means we get to see him beat more heavyweights until he makes a legacy no one can surpass. Undisputed goat with no one even close in the discussion

I’m a huge Valentina fan and I hated to see her lose but I couldn’t pick a better person to lose to. Alexa is such a sweetheart. So respectful and well spoken. Congrats champ!

Agree, she carries herself so well as seen during fight week, just a damn good person. She also busts her ass in preparation, does some things especially explosions for power from the hips that nobody else does. I like her training regiment, it isnt just all sparring.

Respectfully, Valentina didn't lose, she won according to legit scoring. 10-8 is nothing short of fraud. Even Michael Bisping gave Alexa her props but had her losing on a legitimate scoring 5th of 10-9. He went on to explain why Valentina won a VERY close decision and how 10-8, even by today's standards, was completely absurd. I'm not here to diss Alexa because she's an amazing person and fighter. I'm merely saying that something is very broken in MMA's scoring and judging system. Corruption seemingly abounds.

Good for her, schevchenko thought she was untouchable and unbeatable, wrong mindset for a champion, never underestimate your opponent, for me best fight of the night, Jones vs gane was boring, and wasn’t even a fight and I was looking forward to a banger but Jones has to go to the boring grappling. I’d rather see a punchup than one guy cuddling another.

This would have ended differently if the Ref hadn't let Alexa Grasso up for no reason when Valentina had her down hard for the 4th time. Obvious to me that this was an unfair call and provided another opportunity which wouldn't have existed or been afforded to Alexa otherwise. Alexa did a great job, however, it was headed in a different direction before the Ref made that call. Had it been the other way around, and the Ref let Valentina up from under Alexa, people would definitely call this an unfair advantage, so it goes both ways lest there's double standards.

Yeah...you're good at deflecting from a valid comment about the current fight by digging up dirt over a past fight (which was actually won by decision) just saying. It's absolutely possible, had the the Ref not let Alexa up for Absolutely no reason, she could've ended up back on top. But it was not looking good for her in that moment. I don't like it when Refs create unfair advantages by making poor calls. I would have enjoyed this fight much better seeing how it could have played out without that poor call, If Alexa still won I'd have all reasons to praise her. Now, No one will know for sure how it would have played out without the Ref interference.

So that's the last of the dominant champions to fall, Nunes, Usman, Izzy and now Valentina. Everybody's time is up eventually, which is why I think legacy is so important; the records and unbeaten streaks have to count towards something.

I literally stood up from my seat in front of my TV and clapped when she pulled the RNC off. I couldn't stop smiling b/c she pulled off a great upset, against one of the most dominant and technical champion, and she did it in front of a sold out crowd in Las Vegas.

She’s a true champion for speaking three languages? A true champion has to win and to defend the belt several times. Valentina is a true Ultimate champion. She defended the belt seven times. Grasso just can’t win and not defend the belt to be a “true” champion.

I am a serious fan of Valentina. That said, serious props to Grasso. 2 things, she managed to avoid Valentina's trademark crucifix, and she turned Valentina's trademark spinning back kick against her. If Valentina gets you down and gets on top you can't lay there and let her take side mount, take guard and fight like hell to get out. The spinning back kick involves giving a shot at your back, if you can take it you can go for the takedown and submission. For Valentina, everyone has watched her dominate for decades going back into Muay Thai and kickboxing. She has an amazing toolbox, it's time to break out some more tools or learn some new ones.

Casual fans not knowing how good Grasso is and overlooking her, was amusing to see in the last couple of weeks. She outstruck Valentina and made her shoot in panic in the last round, and the last kick was a final panic move that made her give her back against a beast like Alexa

Valentina was far from dominant..Grasso was getting the cleaner strikes on the feet,Valentina's takedowns were at best trying to neutralize the heat she was recieving from grasso.Let's be honest Schevchenko's skillset has not sharpened,she has become monotonous and predictable!that spinning backfist was predictable hence grasso said ''we knew she was gonna spin"" and it was a panick reaction from someone who has been found out.Valentina neeeds variety and needs to train with people from other MMA backrounds to add to her skillset,at the moment in my opinion she has not improved

At first i was rooting for Valentina and confident that she will win due to her athletic background but when i heard Grassa spoke to the media she's verry humble i started to change my mind she deserved to be in this positon as a new UFC women's champion Congratulation Alexa Grassa "Viva la Mexico".

El Salvador born, Canadian citizen here. Congrats to Alexa! Te felicito Alexa! Many people were writing her off before the fight, not me! I love Shevchenko as well, but I was rooting for Alexa. She was the massive underdog but I had a feeling she could pull it off. Made me teary eyed when she choked her out! What a fight!

Love it! Incredibly happy for Alexa, she did amazingly well with pre-fight interviews, with the fight and post-fight. Amazing win, and fantastic fight. That back take was a piece of art! To do that to a dominant champ like Shevchenko was phenomenal. Love her attitude, her dedication, her respect, her radiance, her humbleness, her beauty, her voice, her laughter! Hope she remains champ for a long time! Well done
