Y'all remember when the crowds hated him, no matter how many times he won? I was always a fan and never understood why he took so long to win everyone over. Legend and glad he's champ again.

It’s cause he wasn’t as vocal and fun back then. He began to open up more I believe after the Chad Medes fight. And Max was super likable at that time.

I feel like it's pretty well agreed upon that he took the Ilia fight too soon at least in the sense that he didn't give his brain time to recover from the Islam KO. Would that shot have still slept him? Hard to feel like it wouldn't have. But because he was making a quick turn around from a brutal KO in a fight he didn't prepare for at all, there's no way his readiness for Ilia was as good as it could have been. Maybe he could have avoided that position, maybe he would have held it off for longer only to still end up KO'd against the fence at a later point in the fight. What-ifs. I'm with you though.

it’s an accomplishment because whilst it is incredibly difficult to win a UFC title in the first place, it is equally tremendously difficult to overcome losing (physically and mentally) and come back and win it again. If that doesn’t make sense to you then you’re slow

@@noyu4754 I know it's obviously a VERY good thing to overcome losses and win the belt back against a dangerous guy like Lopes but someone like Islam for example that have been back to back to back is way more impressive. He proved that he is the goat of featherweight and TOP 7 or 6 OAT but be real he basically needs to lose to become a "2x champion". LOSSING ISN'T A GOOD THING, if YOU were not slow you would have gotten it.

One was a separate weight class, and the other was because he was the number one contender. Then the champ vacated, so the number one contender vs the guy who had the next title shot. Not hard to understand.
