@thomas burns I never said it wasn't impressive, it was just done on somebody who was an old school brawler that didn't have any technical skills especially on the ground Garcia was just throwing hooks basically his entire career.. from the other hand submitting poirier who is a former interim champion who beat many top 5 fighters especially with a submission that at the time he was known for is just simply more impressive

The sequence between Ferguson and Barboza is so impresive. After such vicious bloody fight, from how it all starts with a takedown attempt by Barboza, and everything that happened during the chaos of theirs weight shifting from one side to another and how it ended on the choke. Tony never got the respect he deserved back then. Now people respects him more.

Tony's crazy midair underhook off of Barboza's double leg into the snapdown then the D'arce is freakish, like something you'd see made up and rehearsed in pro wrestling. The blood bath makes it so much more legendary. The way he contorts his body in those scramble positions is what made him so much more dynamic than the Pettis's or the Poiriers or even Khabib at the time. This was Tony at his peak, a true boogie man, before Khabib was. It's too bad they won't induct him into the UFC HoF without an 'actual' title win.

@YannickMMA5 ай бұрын
@@KamHendricks_188 In fact, it was a d’arce choke. However, there is hardly any difference to the anaconda. Actually, if I am not wrong, the only difference is the entry of your choking arm. Anaconda choke: over the head, similar to the beginning of a guillotine, lockin it in behind the shoulder. With the d’arce choke: you go with your choking arm along the throat and connect your hand with the bicep of your choking arm... difficult to explain in a few words as a German … 🤡🙈 Islam has modified the classic “Ferguson-darce” a little😀. But I think if your are interested, you can find good videos here on YT.
