I'm truly gutted by this loss. I don't know Charles nor am I Brazilian; however, Charles will always be my hero for one reason. He became successful but stayed in the Brazilian Favelas to help his people. That's what I call a true champion in life.

quite sure purchased with a lot of money..he made a few of mistake on the ground when he became submished. He is a pro BJJ and that can't usually not happen. could be a lot of reasons why he lost.

@@Bonshalolm thats nice, but being dominant is only one facet of it. Actually facing quality competition and adding defences against the best fighters at lightweight is important too. Khabib retired before he could beat Charles, Tony, Chandler, dariush, etc. I think he beats them all and pretty easily too, but the fact is he never fought them at all! Hes left us thinking of hypotheticals. At least with Charles, we have seen the ceiling. Thats what Im getting at.

He wasn't great when he was cocky bragging that he's better in striking and on the ground. He got humbled. Just as Woodley said Usman can't do anything to him standing or on the ground. Thinking you're the best at everything is denying your weaknesses and learning from them and how to work around them. Oliveira still thinks he's the best, but he will soon find out he's not beating Makhachev. I used to be a big fan of Oliveira, but he got extremely overconfident. He forgot he was losing in striking against sone fighters, or how he couldn't do anything against some wrestlers. I can see in his eyes he delusionally thinks he's the superior fighter, but he's not. You can't do anything on the ground when your hips are pinned down. You can't win on your feet if you get hurt and knocked down.

He will come stronger because he is humble and understands (and accepts) that Islam was a better fight in their fight. That humbleness and this defeat will make him work harder on his game so he can step up next time they meet. I'm thrilled to see Makhachaev champion but after seeing Charles behaviour after his loss made have nothing but mad respect. He has the heart of a fighter and the character of a true champion.

He was arrogant. It's really as simple as that. He keeps saying he was gonna finish Islam in the 1st Round. He went in with that mentality for his striking. He probably didn't think much about Islam's stand up which is stupid because if anyone has seen Islam's stand-up, they'd know that Islam has damn good striking. I don't know why people keep underestimating Islam's stand-up. And when the fight went past Round 1 and he didn't finish Islam like he said he would, it created doubt in his mind. It creates pressure and it shows. He was too overconfident and Islam dominated him in every aspect. It was not surprising for me because I rooted for Islam and I knew he was gonna submit Charles. I just didn't expect it to arrive as early as the 2nd Round. Fair play to both fighters. They gave a great performance 👏🏽

Charles got dropped because he completely overstepped on his fake flying knee, I’m not even sure if it was a fake but it completely missed. Islam was handed the same lead check hook that Dustin caught Charles with. If I can see this his team can see it and he’ll learn to defend better. Taking islam down was a low iq play and ego-driven in my opinion

yeah Charles seemed just a tad hesitant in his striking compared to his previous fights, Charles would always be advancing and keeping his opponent's back. probably due to anticipating the takedown threat makes any fighter a tad more hesitant in their advancements and that's the advantage of these wrestling style fighters.

I'm a muslim in Indonesia n a fan of both Khabib n Islam. But for Oliveira, he deserve my respect n support for his humbleness n kindness. He is a true gentleman n warrior.
