Real OGs know that Chuck LIdell was the face of the UFC and even of MMA during the early 2000s, he was all over tv on different commercials, from soda commercials to fast food, to car sales, even anti-bullying commercials. the posters of his fights would be on the doors of grocery stores and shopping centers. Even people who did not know much about MMA recognized Chuck Lidell, he was the first MMA celebrity.

People think he's just a brawler because he liked to trade blows, but he was a very skilled kickboxer. His TDD was legendary aswell. How could you not like Chuck.

He was also a really good wrestler very early on in his career which contributed to his takedown defense, pretty sure the reason he abandoned practicing wrestling constantly was because he found it easier to get the job done with his hands and granite chin

Much credit to Chuck, but the LHW division was split between two organizations with most of the top fighters in PRIDE rather than UFC so to say he was destroying everyone is quite an overstatement.

@@jiujitsumonkey1 Shogun, Wandy, Arona, Lil Nog, Rampage, Overeem all in pride. By comparison, the only top guy Chuck beat in a title fight was Couture. Tito was barely top 10 when Chuck defended against him. Babalu was barely in top 10 or outside it. Horn definitely not a top fighter. Neither Tito nor babalu nor Horn would have been favored against ANY of the pride fighters I mentioned during Chucks championships reign.

@@jesses5463 he had wins over Wanderlei, Alistair, Vitor, and Randleman. He was past his prime when he fought shogun, would’ve liked to have seen that fight 2-3 years before it took place. His wins over Randy were big though as the natural was one of the best lhw’s, and Tito (who I couldn’t stand) was also a beast at that time where he had serious ground n pound. Pride was great, but it would’ve been so great to see all the 205ers in that era fight under one banner as the division was full of killers. Prime Chuck was a savage though, had a great chin and through bombs, watching him open up when he smells blood and just starts throwing a barrage is unforgettable

Rampage hit him with shots in their first fight that were way better than the left hook he ko'd him with the 2nd fight. Randy hit him really hard many times in the first fight and wobbled him AT BEST. The g & p is what stopped him both times with randy and Quinton.

When someone says "throwing hands" i think of chuck.. This guy literally threw a mean punch and mean combos.. Watching him take off on someone was always exciting moments

A lil while before Chuck won the UFC title I hung out with him at Turnberry Place towers pool in Las Vegas for good hour having no clue who he was until after he left and the waitress informed me and I have to say he was one of the coolest down to earth people you could ever meet

I have an amazing story. One day I was driving home, when all the sudden the Lord came to me in spirit. I felt very close to Him. I knew if I asked him to play any song on the radio he would, I guess to bless my faith. So I said "ok, Lord play "Come as you are by Nirvana". I turned on the radio and the song started playing right there on the spot, perfectly… I started getting flooded with chills like a waterfall, crying, and trembling. He stayed with me for 10 minutes in my driveway. until I got outta the car. A couple months after that I started getting amazing prayers answered way more often, because it helped me quit doubting when I pray and I was lined up with biblical instructions. It's 6 years later and I still get answered prayers in Jesus name.

My favorite fighter in ufc history. I just love his style. He doesn't look like most of the other fighters with how he fights. They look more polished. Trained. Clean. His style is like some middle aged drunk redneck in a bar fight, lol. You knew you were probably about to get a slugfest whenever he was in the ring.

Chuck teeing off on Tito is so legendary. Anyone who’s been in a fight wants to have a moment like that. I’m not a striker every fight I’ve ever been in I try to use my strength and get them down but if I had an iron chin I would love to have a moment like that and just have the balls to just go knuckle to chin before one of use just knocks the fuck out 😂 that’s gotta feel exhilarating af.
