He should have signed both fighters from the main event, Williams and Kurmagomedov. that was an insane Brawl and id love to see a rematch. am disappointing Dana never sign them. whats impressive is that Kurmagomedov showed no holes and technical mastery even though he jumped a weight class, coming of a year layoff and his only 21 years old!!!

What happens with a UFC contract, are they paid any money, or do they only get paid if they have a fight?

They most likely get a signing on fee but the main aspect is them being promised a certain number of fights within the contract. Mostly commonly four per year, in which each fight undertaken could earn them 15-25K along with any potential 50K bonuses. All together with brand wear and media day appearances the contracts are worth 100K plus per year.
