Shogun was the only person to win a round over Machida. Machida has never lost a round...until now. That's fucking crazy. If shogun can beat Machida, which he could (just look at what happened at UFC104), then he could beat ANYONE in the light heavyweight division. Shogun is back! Shogun probably should've won...but hey, life isn't fair. You gotta move on, and work harder. You learn from these experiences and Shogun will be back BETTER THAN EVER! Trust me. He deserves to be champ.

Throwing a strike moving backwards is not as effective as a strike thrown moving forward. Shogun did this throughout the fight. Also, Lyoto controlled the pace of the fight, thats what his elusive style does. Lyoto was also very effective in the clinch. Shogun's efficiency wasn't as good as Lyoto's. When Lyoto attacked more, he landed combos than Shogun did. on top of the he sped up the fight, controlling the pace. Shogun went for a take down and failed. These are vital points being scored

The Dragon's Looking Good,Going To Be A Great Main Event! Best Of Luck To Both Rua And Machida
@skibby10115 жыл бұрын
Everytime Shogun tried to run forward with his combo strikes, he missed. Lyoto was eluding them and countering. When Lyoto ran forward with his hits he was very efficient. In conclusion, I think it was a very tough call for the judges.

You saw the way Shogun was looking at that belt?? He WANTS it. Lol
@Kellysayshello15 жыл бұрын
I've been a fan since UFC 1 with Royce Gracie (which I saw on the original PPV). When I say Shogun is one of the best, I mean in the LHW class. Shogun looked like crap against Forrest and Mark Coleman, but he was coming off of a long layoff and had injuries. The Shogun we saw last night would have knocked Forrest out within 2 rounds. He beat Machida last night; look at Machida's legs and ribs. If Shogun keeps in the shape he was last night, he will take the belt.

They needed the judges from Forrest/Rampage I guess. Kind of feel bad for Machida now, but even worse for Shogun if he loses a re-match. On a positive note, Shogun world destroyer is in the US now.
@skibby10115 жыл бұрын
Well, he didn't win the fight last night. The judges scored it for Machida. I know you know that but that's the way it is. I could argue a few points of why Shogun lost and Machida won but it would just be pointless in the end. However, I think it was a very close fight, and at first glance, I would've said Shogun won.

Last time I checked Dana White was the president of the UFC. He can easily give the belt to Shogun. AS HE SHOULD.
@Pick1980a15 жыл бұрын
MMA started using the boxing commissions because they had the infastructure initially. Now MMA hosts more fights and could potentially support their own collective commissions. If the level of judging and Refing don't improve you can bet that the UFC and the rest of MMA will make a move in that direction. There will be a tipping point where it will be worth risking existing relationships with commissions to ensure that the sport has credibility moving forward.
@Unkn0wnGuy15 жыл бұрын
Dude, did you watch the fight? Shogun beat machida hands down. I count that fight as a loss for Machida.
@Kellysayshello15 жыл бұрын
I agree that Shogun won that fight. I really like Machida and I am a fan, but Shogun won the fight. Shogun was healthy and in really good shape this time and we finally got to see the REAL Shogun. When Shogun is at his best, he is one of the best. (maybe THE best) He won the fight and the judges robbed him.

the interesting thing about the staredown is that shogun never takes his eyes off that belt. HE KNOWS what he's fighting for. I wanna see a great fight. I hope it doesn't turn into a boring fest. I hate to hear alot booing at a main event tittle fight. It just doesn't look good. Especially when you have been selling the fight to your friends who are now just getting into the MMA thing. I just don't want them to give me that look like; dude, that's the fight you were talking about?

Not a fan of Machida, but to win the belt you need to win the fight without any doubts or splitting rounds. You're not going to crown a new champ for splitting rounds, the edge will always go to the current champ. As far as people saying Machida is overrated? You must not know anything about MMA or at the very least about SHOGUN. Shogun is a beast, after Machida beat Thiago I said how the only 2 i see Machida losing to is Shogun and The Spider.. get real people

I was there Machida won a close fight, you can't GIVE the fight to Rua for the leg kicks, it was a very close fight but there was no doubt in educated fans like me that have bee in the ring that Machida was STILL LW Champion of the World. Johnson couldn't make weight what's up with that, he should be dropped 5-6 spots in the rankings for not making weight is he the next Jason Guida ?

Shogun is the real champion. Gave Shogun his belt. he won. was no even controversial. He won" Machida fans, you know that.

Well, Machida won. So get over it. Stop hugging Shoguns nuts. The past is the past. Whatever happened doesn't fucking matter. Its time to move forward. But let me tell u this...the rematch will be fucking insane. It'll probably be one of the greatest fights in UFC history.

Dana says that he thinks Shogun won the fight in press conference. Looking at an immediate re-match apparently.
@DarksouIjah15 жыл бұрын
I don't think the fight was fixed as so many people are claiming. It's a lot more complicated as what most people are thinking as far as judging a fight. I think the fight should have ended in a draw in my opinion, and let me explain. Yeah Machida took a shit load of kicks form Shogun but he countered a lot of them with punches in which Joe Rogan and company never commented on.
@CurleyMane114 жыл бұрын
GodJoey... Fighters completely dehydrate and exhaust themselves to make weight. They absolutely need that time to recuperate. And the weight difference they walk into the ring at, it's all a part of the game. If you don't cut weight, your generally at a disadvantage, because the other guy is walking into the cage much heavier then you.

@TheeDevilWearsPrada15 жыл бұрын
It was the judges fault. Don't blame it on Machida because he had nothing to do with the decision. If anything, blame the judges. But I honestly think Machida won. But watever...all questions will be answered in the Shogun/Machida rematch. So just wait til then..
@ADAMAKAGORE15 жыл бұрын
I think it´s not only Fedor´s decision..Lots of people behind Fedor...so probably if it was up to the guy he would sign. Dana did everything possible though.

Brock uses his weight, power, and wrestling ability that from his college career. He has an attitude and cockiness. At one point he showed a little disrespect when he fought Frank Mir. He apologized. Brock Lesnar is a powerful, skilled fighter. If he wasn't in the WWE you'd be thinking much differently of him.

Obviously this was Machidas' hardest opponent yet and I would love ot see a rematch but you can NOT give away a belt from someone who never got knocked down once. In order to be the champ you must BEAT the champ. All I wish was that it was like the old days in which the fight only ends by someone getting knocked out or tapping.
@xxmoney91xx15 жыл бұрын
Thats shogun rua, thats cool that you dont know his name, he only beat lidel, rampage, and nogeura. (just to name a few)
@Pick1980a15 жыл бұрын
Yeah your right. I guess i just get annoyed when i see an opening to win an obvious opening to win a fight and the fighter doesn't take advantage. However, there is no question that he dominated him in the fight.
@fuckengerginof15 жыл бұрын
watch it on mute? WTF!!! so was one of the judges Matt Hamill? whats next? Listen to it but close your eyes so you wont see the damage reflected on machidas face legs and torso? give me a fuqen break.

He needs to either KO people or learn how to submit them. He have plenty of chances to do both and couldn't. Don't get me wrong he is an excellent fighter and proved that tonight, but in order to be elite he needs to be able to finish guys when the opportunity arises. Rothwell should never have got out of the 1st.
@ryan80315 жыл бұрын
dude idk how they are able to hang out in the same room as the guys they are about to fight lol, idk if i could pull that off if i was to fight someone

How can Dana sort this out. The judges and athletic commission are independent and do not work for the UFC. It wasn't the first bad call and it won't be the last. Like Dana always tells the fighters, Don't leave it in the judges hands.

Machida will win. No doubt. Want to see him fight Silva.
@superpridefighter15 жыл бұрын
You guys, I was fucking pissed off at Dana a little while ago, but the truth is that it isn't his fault. The judges made the decision and they have the final say. Watch the post-fight press conference to get a little perspective on the issue. I'm fucking mad because I know Shogun won. But, I don't think the U.F.C. fucked up. Do I think the outcome was rigged? Yes. But, I don't think it was rigged by the U.F.C.
@imtheboss2315 жыл бұрын
Or finish a fight before it goes to the judges. Each judge could watch the fight again an score different. That's why you never want to leave it up to the judges
@Ex0dus11115 жыл бұрын
Machida looked Shogun in the eyes, Shogun looked only at the Belt. Machida will crush him.
@TheAngryHusky15 жыл бұрын
I love how everyone is blaming the UFC for the bad decision. I was pulling for Lyoto, I thought Shogun won,. Judges called it otherwise. That is not DANA WHITE or the UFC's Fault. You people act like babies. Cry to the athletic commission. Don't whine and cry and accuse the UFC of rigging decisions.

@DarksouIjah15 жыл бұрын
Why do you people think Dana threw the fight? It would have been a way bigger story/more publicity if Lytoto (the favorite and unbeaten) would have lost the fight than Lyoto winning by an unweary judges decision.
