Hardy lasted 5 whole rounds with the worlds best WW fighter and took no damage...Fitch, Alves & Penn were all battered with obvious damage to the face (Penn quit & Hardy didnt) so big props to Hardy...we all knew GSP was gonna win but Hardy had a punchers chance and did well surviving those nasty submissions.

I was rooting for Dan Hardy cause hes been my fav fighter since ufc 89. He can get back up to the top again and when he does if GSP still has the belt look for a knockout first round Dan Hardy the victor.

I agree with you i watched the event on ESPN here in the UK and Carwin and Mir was a wicked fight to watch. But the main event the only things i found exciting in the fight was Dan Hardy never giving up in those brutal submissions :)

u have to be a great fighter to be able to dominate a fight like that, even most of his past fights he dominated, just shows how much u know about mixed martial arts

Id like to add that im not a meathead, I very much enjoy watching 2 jiu-jitsu guys have an amazing strategic ground war as a part of the fight. But if thats all a guy can do then when it gets to the point where he has already used all the ground time alloted for the fight, then its time to get KO, or learn to have MIXED martial arts.

the best doesnt always mean the most exciting. GSP is the best 170lb fighter, and the best pound for pound fighter in the world. IF he continues to win in dominating fashion time after time, how can people not see that GSP is the best?

It's got more to do with the time zones, Canada has to pay as well. It's also more or less to let it grow in those countries, if they weren't for free no one would watch them over there. Once it becomes more mainstream you can bet they will pay just as much, if not more than us.

@mbauer08 Keep in mind that Carwin had to cut weight before the fight, and Lesnar is walking around at over 300lbs. You can tell he lost a lot of weight while he was sick though, his face looks very drawn and gaunt.

IMO GSP was just beening nice that arm bar was so deep he could have broke his arm if he wanted to same with the kamora late in the fight. some other fighters would have just keep cranking on those arms till they broke. But then GSP would be apologizing to the UFC for media frenzy that they could not control.

The only reason GSP last fight was because boring was because Hardy wasnt near his level. If they where to get someone at GSP level or better it would be very exciting. Like if Anderson Silva where to fight gsp the would be very exciting. UFC get more of a challenge for GSP.

@HardRokMiner Your opinion... I've been watching the UFC since before Buffer was the announcer, and believe me he's a hell of a lot better than the previous one. Ring announcers are meant to be like that.. goto Japan and they scream like crazy, look at other MMA orgs that have come and gone and they've pretty much all had crappy announcers. If you wanna see a really bad example, check out Scott Ferrall. Alternatively, check out boxing's main announcer.. it's Bruce Buffer's brother, Michael.

The entire point of the fight for me was to see if GSP had the heart and skills to take hardy's brutal punches and still win. I was so disappointed to see GSP lay on him for 5 rounds. They should implement a time limit to the ground that equates to 3/4 of a match, so in this case the final round would have been 100% stand-up, so we can see some MIXED martial arts, and not just the 1 art of lying on a guy because your scared.

I probs could name every fighter off top of my head but yeah Im a casual fan. GSP is still in my book one of the best and one of my fav fighters its just I think he becoming way too predictable. As a fan I dont wanna see the same thing over and over again, I wanna see him mix it up like he fully capable of.

@HardRokMiner Well you obviously haven't been watching UFC since he first made an appearance.. like I said he's way better than the previous announcer, and has become an icon of the sport for a lot of people. He doesn't annoy me at all.. I focus a lot more on the fights and have better things to worry about than 'Weeeere live'. It could be a lot worse..
