Featherweight division has the most elite champions. Only 5 so far and all of them are top level.

Partly because it's a newer division. If it had been around 10 years longer like WW-HW they'd have a handful of guys from the older generations that people would assume are scrubs because they never watched them fight.

Each champion has multiple defenses well beyond concealing there greatness and legacy. It makes me wonder if Conor would have stayed true to himself and not go chasing the money witch I completely understand I can't knock it, he'd probably still be the featherweight champion today.

@@tylerhenriques274 That's not how that works, if you win 2/3 judges it doesn't matter how many the third judge had you losing by, no matter what you'll win the fight. For example, say one judge scores a draw, the next judge scores it for fighter A by one round, the next judge scores it for fighter B by two rounds. The way you said it, Fighter B would win because he won more rounds and got more "points", in reality the fight would be a draw because no one fighter won a majority of the judges. Individual Rounds don't matter, just how many judges overall gave you the fight.

I mean, they literally put Colby in the thumbnail for the Welterweight Champions video even though it was just an interim belt that he didn't even defend. They put him instead of Tyron Woodley and Matt Hughes, who both were undisputed champions with multiple title defenses. 😂 The only legitimate interim champs are the ones who defend their belts (e.g. Tom Aspinall). Otherwise, it's just a glorified #1 contender belt.

I love how Joe described the whole Aldo vs. McGregor rival and kinda predicted the result by just looking at both fighter. This is why he even pays close attention to the weigh in stare down. Joe has had many great calls that educated me and a lot of fans.

In the time between UFC 297 and UFC 298 you could say there had been 4 middleweight champions crowned within the last 14 months, while there had only been 4 featherweight champions in the last 14 YEARS.

Not sure where you're getting 14 months. UFC 287 where Pereira lost to Izzy was on April 8, 2023, and UFC 297 where Strickland lost to Dricus was on January 20, 2024. So that's 4 champs in a little over 9 months which is crazy.

Meh, even thought it's technically not UFC, I think WEC featherweight champions during the Zuffa era should count as well since both promotions were owned by the same company and the WEC featherweight title was the division's top prize at the time.
