He’s super under-appreciated too, first LHW in a decade to not be Jon Jones or Daniel Cormier, barely loses by finish and when he does he’s never fully out, this man has never been out cold as far as I can remember.

People forget he got a win over Adesanya, split lose witn Pereira and draw with Anakalev, there is a world where he actualy won all these 3 fights and it woudnt be a robery. UFC just was against him for many years, cause he messed up their plans many times, like winning with Rockhold, winning with Adesanya and a draw with Anakalev. They dont like him.

Jan has a sneaky HOF resume = Took Adesanya’s 0 neutralizing his style ending his 20 fight win streak. = Broke down the guy that beat Jon Jones in Dominic Reyes. Ending his “13” fight win streak to claim the LHW belt. = Subsequently ended Luke Rockhold’s UFC career. Corey Anderson’s UFC Tenure, and Rakic’s title aspirations. = Arguably beat Alex Peirera 2-1 (they didn’t count control time ig) = Gave Ankaleav his hardest match up to this day. arguably beating him. Also has wins over Krylov and Cannonier. A HOF and one of the greatest LHW’s ever. Extremely well rounded and has the nastiest leg kicks in the division’s history.

I don’t think it should be arguable he beat pereira. Jan did absolutely nothing with the ground time and got outstruck on the feet. Laying on someone is restraining, not fighting

your list is based off the opponents merits. Basically ending ppls win streaks and titles aspiration and giving contenders hard matchups does not mean hes a HOF. You cant put Jan in the HOF next to guys like GSP and Jones just because he ended ppls hype trains LOL. Jan was never a long reigning champ or been in the UFC long enough to be considered a legend in the sport or even a legend in the UFC. Success and beating hard opponents does not mean you are a HOFer... You're basically saying something like Izzy is going to be in the UFC cause he beat the legend Anderson Silva, took Costas 0, neutralized Yoel romero, etc... No. Izzy is going to be HOFer because he dominated the division for years. Basically wiping it out and being one of the most dominant middleweights

@ merit and asterisks matter when judging a fighters legacy. Thats why many people are split on the GOAT topic. Being some view Jon (but roids) GSP (but too many decisions) or Mighty Mouse (but lack of competition) as things that play a part in these conversations. Same with Jan. Even with success and beating hard opponents aside. A highlight reel tape is another impressive feat as thats what Jan has. He has some wicked KO’s and Submissions in his career. I think he definitely did more than Donald Cerrone who is a non champion who just fought alot and had some highlights that is a HOF. Jan’s career was definitely better than Rashad Evans, Rich Franklin’s , RDAs etc. who would be considered “HOFs” to many.

Jan is a legend, interviews with him are so awesome, funny and wholesome. Hard for me to understand why UFC was not promoting him more, I think they thought he is less entertaining then some stars and more outspoken native speakers, but when you actually get to listen to him, he is extremely likeable.

Jan has fought ranked opponents since he came to the UFC. Ulberg on the other hand has fought mostly unranked fighters until his last 2 fights. Jan is up in age a bit but I like him in this fight.

It’s hard to bet against Jan, but Carlos is VERY good with that check left hook. I think Jan will probably edge it out with his grappling but it’s hard to say for sure. It’ll for sure be a good fight though.

Yeah UFC put wrong bets on this one. they thought he is a journeyman due to his 4-4 start in ufc so they wanted to feed him to their hype jobs, failing miserably each time. Funnily enough, the only time when UFC was more on his side was before his fight with Glover, which he lost.

Ulberg looks too small for this division. These punch don’t weigh as much as Jan. They rely more on precision, which is why they succeed. But I don’t think that will work against Jan. He has an insanely tough chin. Kicks won’t work either because Jan comes from a Muay Thai background. Ulberg reminds me of Reyes or Adesanya early in their careers. I’m betting on Jan.

jan is 41 and coming off 2 shoulder surgeries and hasn't fought in over 600 days.... ulberg is on a 7 fight win streak however his toughest fight up to date is volken ozdimere..... this is a tough call

I love Jan as much as anyone who is a long time fan of the sport should/would. But the man is 42 and he's been inactive. Hope he gets it done, but I wouldn't be willing to add it to the bet slip. Plus, ulbergs young and from a great gym. He's likely a future champ.
