I disagree whole heartedly. I think the HW of today would mop those guys. Tim Sylvia? Randy was nice but a bit small for today’s guys. Arlovski was a mad dog but would get KOd by Francis. The current HW division is the strongest it’s ever been. LHW I think is 50/50
@Ptheplug39
@Ptheplug39 Жыл бұрын
@@Phuong_Nguyen_ LHW was weak in this era it just had name value and that's it. Most of the guys Jones rampage and em were fighting were guys who knew one martial art then tried to learn more. Nowadays if your in the UFC you already great at multiple martial arts. That's the reason Jon Jones a versatile fighter was able to smash his way thru the legends of this era. Cuz their skillset was outdated asf. When he started fighting other fighters with skillsets that weren't as outdated he struggled and arguably lost multiple fights

If you watch it at .25x speed, you can clearly see how fast rampage's reaction time is. Example: at around 3:35 onward, the moment wandy moves his left foot to throw a jab, rampage immediately reacts and throws his own jab even before wandy could land anything. As well as the finishing sequence, rampage really telegraphed all of wandy's hooks and perfectly timed his own left hook to drop wandy. Rampage had quick reaction times, man.

Or convenient timing, as Wanderlei lost 5 fights and won 5 fights by the time they fought for the 3rd time, basically trading wins and losses up until that point. Sounds like Rampage pulled a Money Mayweather and got him when the time was best for him to win.

@@ubermikesocal Doesn't matter, its still sweet revenge for Rampage. Wandy could easily have denied Rampage the opportunity of revenge by saying "I finished this A-hole twice, I don't need to fight him again". Plus, prime Rampage Jackson in the cage beats the best version of Wanderlei Silva. He hits too hard, his boxing is too crisp and there's always the wrestling to fall back on if he gets into trouble.

Everybody always talks about Francis, Rumble, etc, but most forget about Rampage. When he was motivated and trained right, he could throw hysterically destructive hooks and uppercuts. His unique guard was perfect for mma and streetfights. Block with the elbow parallel with the nose and slightly angle off with the opponents incomin blow. Magnificent. I'm surprised more mma fighters haven't emulated Rampages guard when in boxin range instead of still tryna block with the small glove which is nowhere near as effective.
